isnt there a spring, brook, stream or drainage dyke that you could divert, we did it from 2 brooks and the run off from the roof of a large building a good hundred yards away aslong as you remember to add overflow pipes then the level is maintained and the water is continuously being changed every time it rains.

first of all on behalf of everybody you JAMMY b*****d! :tongue2: depending on the size of the lakes you may need to inform the water authority before running of the water.if you go down that route the water will ideally be left at least a year for the water to mature ie chlorine etc to break down ,you would benefit from addingplants ie elodea, iris etcthis will encourage invertibrates etc wich will in turn feed the fish.you will need to check the ph and nitrate levels before adding fish also, hope this helps, best of luck, dave

the only problem with using brooks ,streams etc you are also introducing any parasites, viruses ie spring varemia.crayfish etc also any pollutants :bad:

that will happen naturally apart from the chemicals, the same as fish will appear in time due to the water bird traffic

my local fishery suffered a massive fish kill about 5 years ago,the NRA did extensive tests and eventually discovered cadmium in the water!this had entered via a brook.i personally counted over 100 dead tench and carp one morning!cadmium is a heavy chemical and so settled in the silt thereby killing the bottom feeding species first :cray: there is no way of removing it so it took a few years to disperse, incidentally i never once saw a dead pike(its full of them)even though they were obviously having a beano with sick/dead fish

Im sure if you add tap water you have to leave it at least two weeks to mature before you add any fish or plants because of the chemicals

this seems a very short time, could anyone else give anymore info on there thoughts of lengh of time
