kingnewport 19
Brings a tear to my eye rembering my nans and grandads, all legends . sadly no longer with us but i had the best of times with them.
RubyTex 1,957
Every grandparent i've known is still alive thankfully, my great-grandma on my mums side has just turned 97 and is still going strong, says it how it is and throws in some casual racism!! Been through just about everything, my great-grandad was killed in Greece in WW2 so i never met him. My grandparents more or less brought me and my brother up, just cause my parents worked every waking hour in order for us to have a good life, i love them to bits. My grandma is a typical grandma, always worrying if you've eaten enough or have enough money, my grandad sits back and attends to his garden, still goes to Darlington home matches and walks for miles just for the heck of it, no dog, just him and the peace and quiet. Legends. You've reminded me to call them tomorrow, cheers!
Lab 10,979
Got a Gran and Grandad left on my Dads side.....nicier people you wont meet really. Staunch catholics and never have i heard them utter a bad word about anyone and never have i heard them swear either or infact really be pissed off with anything. I seen a bit more of them over the years since my Mum and Dad split and my Dad bought the house next door to them.....really should have made more of an effort before that anyway... On my Mums side my Gran died when i was about 7, cant really remember much about her but she was a hardy soul. Ended up being blind before she died. And then theres my Grandad who passed away a couple of years back.....the man that got me into the world that i am in now. A hardy pup that took no nonsense from anyone, f**k knows what he was like in his younger days... Sadly missed........
1Wally 204
Lost my grandad on my mums side a couple of years ago, its a cliche but he really was like my best mate. Jesus, he bailed me out of shit enough times. Poor sod knew he was gonna die and made me promise not to tell no one...... Proper character and didnt give a fcuk, real little fighter in his day. Iv still got cutouts of his exploits from the papers somewhere lol, think he was quite proud of em really. His claim to fame was he was banged up in the next cell when they arrested the Yorkshire Ripper lol. People like telling me im just like him, usually when iv done summat wrong ha. My grandma on same side i was close to as a kid, but dont see much of her now as her partner hates me. Shame as id like to see more of her. My dads parents are both alive but different kind a people. Prim and proper they are, grandma with standard blue rinse perm and orange lipstick lol always smells like flowers. They dont dislike me, but you can see they dont like the guy iv become, they hated my grandad who died and im too much like him. Also they have lots of other grandkids, my cousin who plays cricket for Yorkshire, another whos a professional dancer and a young lad on his way to being a pro golfer. Then theres me who rides motorbikes like an idiot (which they hate) and goes out killing things with his dog ( how they see it). Wow after reading that back I can see where there coming from lol. Black sheep there. I can take them or leave em. Atb Wally
