if all i was doing with terrier is ratting then my choice would be the plummer terrier, i own and work one on rats and rabbit and he's never put a foot wrong, brilliant nose's but they where 1st bred for ratting dogs (someone correct me if im wrong :icon_redface: ). i like how they act when out working in a pack there's just something about them when out ratting. thats my thought on the best ratting breed but others will disagree.

less the breed more the drive and nose , I have Jacks who all rat Blanker is my best she can smell a rat a mile off and wont give up no matter where it is even if it means climbing up things , but I have a labrador and shes a demon on rats she's had lots down at farms and on walks :)

Hello i was curious to know what is the best dog for ratting from you previous experience. Mine is Jack Russells and Plummer Terriers.

If you,v got Russells and Plummers Alastair then look no further, i have had some Beddys in years gone by that have been excelent ratters [among other things] but if i had to bet money on a pup turning into a rearly good ratting dog then it would be Plummer then Russell, only my oppinion though, agile things them Plummers, ATB.
