Irish Lurcher 1,013
Heres the case; The bitch had been doing well for him, plenty of bunnies and reds no problem, plenty of drive and commitment, gears to beat the band. But, then the animal jacks one night for no reason and I mean no reason. Animal is in excellent condition and had no injuries, the lad was unsure as to why the animal would pull up, now here is the question…… Is this bitch worth breeding off, he wants a litter from it and is in two minds as he is a wee bit concerned re the jacking, the animal is six and had worked up to then. jambay5 191
at six i would say a dog thats been worked hard would be starting to slow down!! pasts it prime but just right to double up and bring on the next generation!
reddawn 2,173
surely yous can find a litter out a dog an bitch that aint pulled up or jacked mate, sounds like ye mate is lettin sentimentality get in the way. i think far too many folks are breedin off there own dogs an all because thats what they are, theyr own old dogs, iv had a couple of dogs now that id a liked to have bred, but i really dont see point, id much rather just do some groundwork an get a pup out of best i can find, and if an its a big if, i cantnfnd dogs better than mine, then i may consider breedin, but i doubt i ever will, or atleast not in near future... just my two penneth, lol

Born Hunter 17,974
How's the bitch run since? Could she be given the benefit of the doubt if it was a one off? What's the justification for breeding her? Would the breeding produce better bred pups than anything else available? Just a few questions I would be asking myself.

If you breed of her, and even though she done well up to now, you got that little dout in the back of your mind as from today. So start fresh with a pup from differnt stuff, and put your mind at rest .!

Thats the same questions that he is asking, the fact that she had worked so hard for six years and has never pulled up before that is playing on his mind, its a hard one alright, she has worked since and has shown some of her old drive, but is it worth taking the risk of breeding from her, sure I a sure he will make the right decision. alimac 882
Just because you/he thinks the dog is in sound condition and a niggle wasnt to blame, doesnt mean it hasnt got one, the body is a strange old thing were little things can make a big difference. but who knows it could have just plain old jibbed
thee undertaker 78
the first thing i would do if any of my dogs jacked would be a trip to vets for the snip then rehomed as a pet . . . theres too much shit going about as it is without breeding from of a jacker
