WATER FEEDER BOTTLE TROUBLE?

ANY BODY OUT THERE TELL ME HOW TO STOP THE GREEN

MOULD BUILDING UP IN THE WATER BOTTLES, I CHANGE THE

WATER EVERY 2 DAYS BUT I STILL GET THE MOULD APPEARING

IN THEM AND ITS WORSE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS :hmm:

 

 

put some small chain link in it and give a damn good shake.

even changing the water every day they still get the green algie (spelling?) build up

 

Ah ok, its not on mine, but i dont keep the hutch in direct sunlight all day, so that might have an effect on it.

Put in the empty bottle some uncooked rice & fill with a small amount of water,shove your finger in the hole & shake the thing, it does work i do mine like this all the while :)

Cover the bottle as well so it doesn't get any light on it: you can actually buy bottle covers which stop them freezing up in winter and keep them cool in summer: just don't forget to fill it up regularly and clean it the same: more easily forgotten when you can't see what's in it!!

Just thought of another tip to get the bottle clean... a baby bottle cleaning brush (the thin wire sort), you can move the wire to make a small 'L' shape to clean the bottom, into the edges and around the rim. ;)

just stick a small hanfull of rice in and a bit of vinegar shake well and it will be like new

thats what i do works a treat make sure its dried rice though not cooked :yes:
