Simonrees 45
It only takes a few minutes to lock down your Facebook account so that the only people who can access anything are the people on your friends list, and you can even put those friends into different groups now and give each group different access rights etc. So for example you can have a group for all your hunting buddies and a different group for work colleagues, so If you post a status about how many bunnies you bagged and you don't want that cute girl in work to read it, you can quickly set it so that only your hunting buddies can see it. kenny14 656
There's no such thing as privacy on facebook . And I can't understand why people even use it. To build their egos? exhibitionism?......Or maybe I'm just getting old lol

To build their egos? exhibitionism?......Or maybe I'm just getting old lol I use it to keep in touch with my old school friends, University friends, my old Army mates and other friends and family. I have no ego and am certainly not an exhibitionist. I share photos and jokes and arrange get togethers, We even used it recently to help organise the funeral of a Soldier killed in Afghanistan, and through Facebook I was able to meet up with about 20 lads I served with in the army 20 years ago! I have also used it to organise a School get together and met up with old school pals that I hadn't seen for around 30 years!! Facebook is what you make it, but sadly you seem to have no idea what it is.

I know exactly what it is, and after checking it out thoroughly I decided it certainly wasn't for me, as I prefer to have a little more control over who sees what about me, but I believe in each to their own matey . I'm not upset. I just thought your comment was a bit sweeping! The point I was making earlier is that you have absolute control over who sees what on Facebook but very few people understand how to do it. Of course the info you provide is held o a server and could be accessed by Law enforcement but only after a court had ordered that the info be handed over, and even then it is unlikely that it would be provided in an open manner. Facebook can be used in such a way that only you and a small group of select friends can see anything you want them to see. In fact you have much more control on Facebook than you do on here. If anyone wants any help setting up their security or creating groups etc just ask and I'll help.
kenny14 656
I admire your confidence, though I do think it's a little naive. I think most of the 'for and against' facebook discussions have taken place in other threads, and whatever your views on the subject it remains a simple fact that once you post anything on a website, you immediately lose all control of what happens to it and how it's used.
