hunterboy96 0
Hi all, Looking for a new air rifle and considering an upgrade. Just wondering if anyone has advice on whether to stay with a springer or move onto a PCP. Thanks Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
pcp are great but you need to get a pump or a dive bottle which will be more expense Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
springers are more fun id say, takesa good shot to have a good shot consistantly with a springer, if you get me..pcps are just easier, tend to be lighter, and hell of alot quieter, hence my change over to pcp...weight,length,noise,recoil are all reduced on a pcp Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
PCP. But I now want a springer again, so ,,,,,,,, Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
Yeh I know I have two top PCP`s but am looking to get rid of one for an HW97kt ! hint hint !! I realised that a springer deffinately has its plus points sometimes. Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
If I didn't have as many guns n rifles as I do, I'd be getting another springer in the cabinet. Quote Link to post

Acuspell 329
I have a good PCP, two in fact, but it is always the GAS RAMS that I turn to for huntng with. Whilst I havent had any trouble with mine, you hear more problems with PCPs than you do with springers. If you get a top quality PCP you won't go wrong - Rapid 7 or an Airwolf that kind of thing. Mine is only an Air arms s410, but it has a load of work on it. The gas rams have gone reliably from the day they were built. Pics: Theoben Taunus, 20 cal gas ram - 1996. The Theoben Olympus .177 - 1995 PCP - Air Arms s410 in a GinB stockand other work Yet I find it boring and sterile, deadly accurate though. It is one of those things that if I had never had it, I wouldn't have missed it! This was a 35 yard group at twilight from the Olympus, just leaning against the gate post. Do you really need to be able to hit a swan vesta at 35 yards virtually every time? The gas ram is very nearly as good as the PCP in that respect, and certainly more satisfying to shoot. PLUS you don't need all the paraphernalia asociated with the PCP to keep shooting, just work the lever and load a pellet. Completely self contained. The PCP will be quieter though, but only marginally. 1 Quote Link to post
