Recommended Posts

All the best for the weekend Ian! Lurcher & Terrier area is looking great and I've no doubt you and the club will put on another super event at Moira over the 2 days! Can't wait to see the high jump in action, it's been away too long.

Yes i agree the high jump is away to long and many of our younger enthuiast's have not seen such an event

So hopefully they will take part and enjoy it.

Many Thanks For Your Continued Support.

Ian

Is there a high jump competition for terriers too?................or is that an idea for the future?

Thanks folks glad all had a good day except for wetnoseman whom seems to have a problem with the Lurcher judging, but your

never going to please everyone,John Rooney judged the Lurchers and done a top class job on the day and this is just not my

opinion as a lot of the Lurcher folk praised his performance to me during and after the show.

.Entrys Will Be Taken Today From 11.00am For Straight Racing & High Jump Event..

Hope Everyone Enjoys The Day.

Thanks For The Support.

Had another great day today at Moira with the straight racing & high jump events

.Saturdays Supreme Champion was won by William Mckeown's Deerhound Cross Lurcher

.Saturdays Simulated Racing Was Won By Tom Barry's Lucky

.Sundays Under 21" & 23" Straight Racing was won by Rose McCoy's Zola Under 21" & Diego Under 23"

.Sundays Over 23" Straight Racing Champion Was Won By Fiona Devlin's Maverick

.Sundays Over All Straight Racing Champion Was Won Rose McCoy's Diego (for the 4th year running)

.Sundays Terrier Racing Was Won By a great new addition to our shows in Kieran Toner (young man)

The High Jump Event was a great success and was won by Darran Connolly's 22 1/2" Whippet/Greyhound cross Paco

the maximum height jumped by this dog was 9 1/2 ft i don't think anyone can dispute that this is a big achievement for

a dog of this size.

We would like to thank all our judge's..

.Lurchers - John Rooney

.Whippets - Darran Connolly (Whom Stepped In To Judge At The Last Minute)

.Terriers - Dave Roberts

.Strong Dogs - Tom Barry

More information & pictures of the two day event will appear on this thread in the next few days .

Well done to all the winners and thanks to all who supported our show .

The Keep er Lit Dog Show and Raceday Sunday 20th July 2025
Doagh Equestrian is situated on the beautiful Antrim coast in the village of Doagh, Co Antrim. This was a new venue for the “Keep er Lit” Dog show and Race day and the ideal spot for   last Sundays Show.
From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border. Some people came as far away as Limerick and Drogheda with families and dogs in tow. Our good canine folk love a good dog show in the summer and a chat with like minded people. They certainly were not disappointed at the Keep er Lit show.
As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The rings were well spaced out with a good long race track. Paul Boyd was there with his country sports stand, with everything needed in the hunting fraternity.
Some very tasty burgers were available on site and an Equestrian shop with great discounts on offer on the day. I had to take control of my retail therapy when I got into that shop, as I was like a child in a toy shop with to much to choose from.
The weather was glorious all day and at times to warm. As usual the raffle generated a great buzz around the field with some great prizes on offer.
The show started with the racing first at approximately 12.30

      Congratulations to all above winners.
And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges and their ring stewards on the day,on behalf of the Keep er Lit Team for a job well done.
Strong Dog Judge : Gareth Barnett
      Lurcher Judge       : Gerard Melaugh
      Whippet Judge      : Colin Maguire
      Terrier Judge         : Martin Breen
      Pets Judge             : Gail Ross
Judging is not an easy job, but you were consistent and fair, and very successful with the end product.
The racing was carried out as usual to perfection by The Mc Grath Racing Club Carlow. These people have many years experience in the Canine world both in showing and racing and their input helps to alleviate the pressure on the show organizer on the day. A job well done Biddy and team.
Some lovely photographs were taken on the day by various people, and no doubt these will be up on the site shortly.
And Finally, Finally, they say behind every good man is a good woman and Leigh Thompson along with Paddy Gibson, you both definitely fitted into that category. Your show was run with impeccable organisation. It was evident on the day a lot of hard work and sleepless nights was put into  this now annual Show. Leigh and Paddy you pulled out all the stops on the day and produced a top class show in a top class venue. Well done and a credit to you both.
I am Looking forward to more of the same in 2026. Thank you for the memories. To we meet again God Bless.
