Anyone like to use this wee trap ?This was my favourite mole trap,at one time.You didnt have to open up much of the mole run to place it.Downside, i only usually achieved a 50% capture rate with it.

yes i have a few only really use them when all other traps are out, dont have enough confidence to use just them on a job

prefer them you can see if they have been set off without having to uncover everthing, only downside council keeps running over them with their mowers

never tried one. what do you mean 50% capture rate? you have to set 2 traps to catch one mole? or half the moles you tried to catch with them you couldn't?

The latter question jackboy.I tend to try and set one trap per mole.

Now i may be wrong,but i felt at the time the spring maybe wasnt strong enough,and some moles escaped,but feel free to enlighten me if you disagree.

when you set it make a sausage of soil with you hand and place it under the ring it will stop the trap being set off by the mole going under the ring and not through it

I should also add,that a mole catching friend recently disclosed to me,that you can 'adjust' these traps.He discussed how to do this over the phone.It would be interesting to see how this improves the capture rate!( I wish i was smart enough to think of this at the time ! LOL)Time for an experiment???

I will have to check my old traps,but i dont think the spring rusted.It wasnt a heavy rust on the main parts either,so it didnt really affect the trap action.overall ,i think they are worth trying,especially for someone new to the game.I remember years ago doing my first big farm with these traps alone !

I have a few of these in my bag but very rarely use them but when i do they usually account for there mole. My bread and butter traps are duffus and talpex type traps and to be honest you don't need anything else.

duffers and talpex type traps work well. , there other traps out there who works bit better for me.. a talpex type that i think is fantastic,, better than the original talpex type and some of the American small type traps. they ok but goes to show how the yanks think!! bigger ain't always the better!?.any way my choice would be barrel type first off,second would be a trap i made and remade and remade again.. think its about ok now as far as humane goes and to suite us uk lads..

Good on you mate,making your own.Wish i was 'handy' like that.You must save a few bob,lol.Now go on dont keep us all in 'suspense' ,and tell us more about this 'talpex type' that you prefer.

i aint designed the talpex ones lads ,,it for sale on the oppen market,, nothing to do with me just a better version than the talpex and the ones with the handles on top.just think these traps are far stronger and hell of a lot cheeper than the talpex and the talpirid types.
