Airgun Training & Education Organisation

The ATEO was primarily set up to educate, train and promote all aspects of airgun shooting to the public by a small group of dedicated airgun shooters this has now grown with some dedicated coaches across the country.

Our mission is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to enjoy their chosen airgun sport, we believe this can be enhanced by having appropriate training without harm, or injury to persons or wildlife, or any detriment to the environment. This education needs to start at an early age to focus youngster to the dangers of misusing guns of all types and the laws and legislation that can be broken, so to this aim the ATEO as set up a schools program to help inform youngsters to the law and how the use of this equipment correctly can be a way to control some pest species with out risk to other species that other methods can cause and how some of these pest species can be used to provide a organic and health food source.

Since it’s inception the ATEO has become the preferred training provider of the BASC coaching award, developed professional training programs for the pest control professional delivering this training to local government councils and blue chip companies and corporate entertainment organisations.

The ATEO actively working with other organisations to raise the profile of airgun sports and the formation of clubs to encourage the safe use of airguns as recreational sport .

i wouldnt say it is needless training to be honest buddy as this will be good for all and it helps the new to the sport kids adults and old as well

plus it helps in the way of gaining land with the certificate you get as well all this helps with gun safety everything you need to know about guns scopes how to make sure you use the right pellets if the gun fits right and takes the kids/adults that haven't done anything like it before off the fields were they can or like to shoot anything that moves so to speak

but thank you for your input

all the best

I really can`t see how it helps with getting land,, thats like saying geting yer DSC1 will help get stalking,(nope).

Personal presentation is what gets you land, from people you don`t know,, If they like you, you`ll get a chance to show that you can do the job,, Farmers aren`t interested in a certificate, sayin you can use an air rifle.

I really am not trying to knock this venture, but I kinda find it difficult,, as I say,, I see these things as needless training,, the gov`t puts enough obstacles in the way of shooters,, without us adding extra layers and hoops to jump through.

If this was the Gov`t that thought up this training, we would be up in arms.

If you sell it as coperate entertainment, or a stag day out or whatever, fine,, but implying it will get you in the door when it comes to shooting permission,, well, thats different.

I think needless is the wrong choice of word Rake,I understand your views but the way things are going I can see it going towards showing a persons competance. Not everyones cup of tea I know but nor is insurance with which shooting without deems you an idiot.

Good luck with your venture Shay and a Happy New Year.

can see both points of view, when i was trained in the safe use of firearms courtesy of HM forces it was taught using the stick method, if you fecked up you got hit with it, if you got it right you didnt get hit with it. anybody who has access to a gun needs to learn gun safety and some people dont have access to other people with enough knowledge to teach them. i taught my own lads from a very early age. from air rifles then onto shotguns a full bore rifles. however i wouldnt want to see a blanket requirement for formal training put in place, anybody that aquires a rifle should know in there own mind whether they know how to use it safely or not and as such should be able to make their own mind up on training. all the best with the venture shay.

just want to thank everyone for the nice comments just wanted to say i do see both side but i was talking to a lad the other day he was out with his rimfire .22 and he couldnt even hit the target at 30mtrs as i know him i went over to speak to him he was about ready to throw the lot in the spinny so i checked his gun and scope just to find out if they were out in anyway yep they sure were he had never zero'd a scope it was his first gun and bullets flying everywhere now is this a good idea ? so after spending a couple of hours with him he was getting there and feeling happy about the whole shooting thing he said now he is on a course with me starting from new and doing very well so just that little time has stopped bullets flying and now he understands what is what and this is why i am teaching this course and so far i have helped a few people and they are over the moon.

now about the land i have took on loads of land just latey and after speaking to gamekeepers farmers and property owners they are sick of people that have shot on there land not having a clue and leaving dead animals all over the place and at one of my permissions there was a lad poaching on the land and was also filmed by a person shooting at the sheep with a 22 airgun again not very good.

so when i spoke to a well known manor and police the seem to think its a great idea so hence why am training people

the police have a part to play when they issued the lad with a fac for his rimmy did they not check he had experience with firearms, this is where the 3 month mentor clause should be used but each force interprits the law in different ways. our firearms laws are stupid mainly because of bills being rushed into law after incidents with illegally held firearms.
