Millet 4,497
After last winter's bad snow i have decided to try some winter tyre's as the car was pretty usless even with a slight incline in the road with all the snow we got.....i needed two front ones anyway so i went for these.. http://www.tyremen.co.uk/product/10013/175-65-r-14-%2882t%29-acelere-winter.aspx
GrCh 856
doubt you'll need them this year.
Millet 4,497
I would like to think i dont need them but i would rather have them than get stranded somewhere for the sake of a bit of thinking ahead..last year where i travel the car was just about useless..and i had to borrow a 4X4 on several occasion's. gnasher16 31,602
Are they actual snow tyres ? do they have the " S " on the sidewall ?.....bought a set last year they was great in the snow but who can predict when its going to snow, and using them when its not snowing was like running on concrete with football boots on...ended up getting them changed over and back again about 3 times ! Millet 4,497
Ive read some reveiw's and the ones i have are meant to be good on tarmac also in ice and wet condition's especially on cornering at speed..the are winter tyre's not snow.. they have a wider tread than normal tyre so they can flick the snow out easier to stop them from becoming compacted. lurchergrrl 1,441
It's about time you English folks started using winter tires. Never known a nation of cripples like you lot when it snows!

The problem is that we never know when or even if winter's going to come!
B.P.R 2,798
Winter it 12 months a year over here
rob190364 2,594
They're fine on tarmac as long as it's not a hot day, the rubber compound stays soft even when it's freezing....so if you used them in spring or summer they wouldn't last 5 minutes. You don't need to keep changing them every time it's not snowing or icy though.
