jimster68 123 Posted December 11, 2011 Report Share Posted December 11, 2011 i suppose you could rig yourself out for about £500 quid ,and yes its quite alot but compaired to the layout needed for other hobbies its not a great amount .when i started ferreting i tagged along with others for a year or so and bought my gear as i went along spreading the cost.i picked stuff up off forums from people who were packing in and oftain got other stuff chucked in as i was just starting out.now ive got my ferreting gear it should last years i now only buy equipment if i realy need it or i think its better than what ive got.it dont matter what hobby youve got it all costs money ,what price can you put on getting out with a few lads ,having a laugh in the fresh air away from the misus. Only Cost would be nets. On the other hand it can mount up, locators/ collars/ extra collars, buying ferrets, eu polecat pish, buying nets, long nets, spade, ferret box, petrol money.... Don't even mention the ferreting dog that goes with it Upto you how much you spend. Pretty low cost to me, boxes, nets and a locator(getting fixed= more money) there is the £££££ and more ££& I've spent on vets bills for the ferreting dog though.!!!! Went out today with 1 ferret, pocket full of nets and the dog and got 1 rabbit for the ferrets food Cost me £0. Job done in about 40 mins. Quote Link to post
The one 8,598 Posted December 11, 2011 Report Share Posted December 11, 2011 I think its a cheap hobby ,then you take on more ferrets ,extra locators ,collars and more purse nets and long nets because you don't want to knock a job back and loss some permission that's when it gets silly about money . But this year its the cost of fuel that's whats going to put me out this game the cost of fuel travelling to the permissions as you can add the rest gradually and no spend a fortune but you need the transport Quote Link to post
