rob190364 2,594
Don't get paranoid by reading about big bags on here and in mags those r in certain areas like where I run my dog hard going probs 1 out of 3 ratio but ran him in places where rabbs were abundant n hardly missed depends on land u run don't worry about it sounds perfectly normal what your dogs doing easier said than done.....I was out a couple of months ago, trudged for fookin miles, saw just three rabbits and missed them all.....got home at about 3:30am, logged on here with a brew before hitting the sack and some fooker had just put a post up saying how they'd had a quiet night and had only caught 22 and there they all were hanging on the gate on the picture. Felt like going into town to sit on the doorstep at wetherspoons to wait for it to open  On his 'quiet night' he'd caught more than we had all f'ckin season!!! Quote Link to post

At least you're getting out and trying. Keep it up and you'll get good nights. I guarantee you'll get more enjoyment from the nights when you and the Dog have had to really work for a few, than the nights with a lot of easy catches. Sure, big numbers will stick in your mind but memories of nights where the Dogs had to work well will last much longer and be more satisfying . Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Effort.. Thats all I require from a dog in it's first sesason. If i'm doing my job and putting the right quarry in the right ammounts at a steady pace to learn from, without over expectation, then all I require is effort. 4 Quote Link to post
NEWKID 28,446
You should also remeber the type of land your running as far as big or small catches, my young dog makes a lot of catches along the hedge line if it's harder for the rabbit to get in ( sheep fence, walls, thick bramble ect) it works in the dogs favour obviously. Obviously you need to have the rabbits there in the first place, as bosun said as long as she tries her best for me I go home happy. 1 Quote Link to post
