J Darcy 5,871
The woods are turning like there's no tomorrow. Everywhere rich colours please the eye. Reds, yellows, russets and golds. It's raining and i've got lots to do, but I did fancy a walk out in the woods. First shot was a magpie that was sat right above my head in an ancient elm. Came down still kicking to be brought back to hand . Then the phone rang. It was my mate Jay, and typically as soon as i started chatting squirrels seemed to be everywhere. A very quick end ot the call later and a silver critter recieved some attention from a Bisley LRG. Then not much else, so i retraced my steps, getting wetter all the time, quarry was conspicuous by its absence. However, i did manage to spy a familiar shape. A woodie say in a pine tree, all i could see was the neck and that's where it got him. A lucky shot and my first woodie of the season. Let's hope it's not the last. Problem was though, that the woodie had fallen onto a fence, right next to a pair of skiddy undies!!! A bit of manouvering later and a poke with a stick and down he came . I then sent the dog round to cross the water and bring the woodie back to hand. A few more for the FN12's tally... Quote Link to post
