ferret net sizes and weights

well everyones got different opinions on this but i gotta say i prefer the heavyer nets myself , more easy to lay , and a hell of a lot better on snaggy ground ! if you ferret clean ground grass fields and banks then the lighter stuff comes into its own, i ferret mostly snaggy ground and its mostly poaching so i need to lay them fast ! gotta agree with ideations comment on another topic that the lighter nets most defo snare and tangle the rabbits more ! i just havent got the paticence to lay them all the time , but they do have there place and i do carry a few, wats other peoples ideas on nets then ? also think any net under 3 foot 6 is no good wat so ever

If im using purse nets I expect the nets to purse to catch the rabbits, longnets tangle the rabbits up to hold them and I've yet to see a rabbit snared in a net no matter what size or weight.

I do agree any net less than 3'6" is nt worth bothering with and make my own 4'6"long by 18meshes wide was always told "you can put a big net on a little hole but you cant put a little net on a big hole"

Personaly I use spun poly. Have a load of 3'6" probably about 60 and also about 40 4' nets. I use these everywhere and they dont let me down at all, the best ones being the ones with heavy rings. Overall a 4 footer with a nice heavy ring and good quality line wont let you down mate but you set the net right and it goes a long way

Aye a nice big four foot net with heavy ring's But i like a middle of the range net certainly no 4z as they pick up all the crap and unless your ferreting a bowling green are useless after the first burrow ,And not a heavy net as a few times ive seen a rabbit try to sneak out feel the weight of the net on its face and slink away back into the burrow if the ferrets no right on its a*rse

All our nets are handmade bright spun poly 4ft long by 18 meshes wide we also prefere 3mm drawcord to the 2mm and all fitted with metal pegs

we find these nets cover anysize hole the and the metal pegs go into any type of ground quite easy they catch rabbits very well its personal prefrence

4 ft & over for me.Also 5ft poke nets,mixture nylon & spun poly.Like to have plenty of net over the holes however if i can get a quickset around a decent sized set i prefer to do that & just dot a few purse's around.
