Did a very similar route back in the 80,s only it was New York through Ohio Missouri then down through Texas to Arizona......all over a 6 month period and i didnt do any driving..........ii didnt know anything about Route 66 at the time but certainly a great experience......i might be wrong but i dont think Route 66 touched Texas.....and im not sure its still possible to drive it uninterrupted id imagine a lot of the original roads dont even exist anymore

mate did it earlier this year with his lad..

package jobby,,included a couple of harley,s..he did,nt mention much about it..

not my scene,,i like a bit more thirld world country [on the wild side ]type thing..

heading for timbucto/dogon country in a few weeks..

plenty of wildcamping on the way,,ha ha.

deserts and star watching on a night.... marvellous............
