There will always be corruption in the police though, always has been and always will be.....it's just human nature. Give people a bit of power and a good percentage of them will abuse it, it's the same with anything. I bet this programme will have a few senior officers squirming though!! mackem 30,939
I bet they rue the freedom of information act being conceived and drafted. Call for stronger oversight as police avoid scrutiny Officers were found guilty of misconduct in Louise Webster's case Stronger police accountability has been called for after a BBC Panorama investigation found that officers accused of misconduct were being allowed to quietly resign rather than face the disciplinary process. Responses to freedom of information requests from 47 of the UK's 53 police forces found that between 2008 and 2010, at least 489 officers facing misconduct allegations were able to quietly walk away. Lawyer Jocelyn Cockburn, who specialises in cases involving complaints against police, said this so-called "back door" carries hidden risk. "If they are allowed to leave the police without any stain on their character then there is the chance they will go and work in another force and that does happen," she said. They should have lost their jobs because of it. If they couldn't turn up to something so important like that, then what are they actually going to turn up to? Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Peter Fahy, speaking for the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), said police resignations in the face of misconduct allegations can be in the public interest. "There is a judgement about, do you want to wait for a long drawn out disciplinary procedure, which you know is likely to end in the officer losing their job, or if that officer is willing to resign, is it not in the public interest again, to get them off the payroll and to avoid the cost and expense of a hearing?" The programme also found that there were 1,915 guilty findings against officers for misconduct during the same period. One fifth of officers against whom punishments were handed down - or 382 in total - were dismissed or required to resign. Some of those who complained about police misconduct are now calling for greater transparency in the way the police are regulated and how punishments are handed out. Attack Fell Terrier 864
I was in court on an assault charge and the copper who arrested me tried to withhold evidence which proved I was telling the truth, and he pretty much tried to lie to the court and use hear say to dirty my name. I never realised just how low some people (in that sort of position) could go to get what they want. Besides all that my solicitor crucified him and the grass that put me in and I got off with it.
mackem 30,939
Besides all that my solicitor crucified him I know a case of two total idiots who tried to fit someone up through spitefull vindictiveness, maybe they were bullied at school or whatever, anyway long and short and tall of it was the guy they tried to set-up had recorded everything, case went to court, they are both EX-coppers now. Good friend of mine was walking home in the early hours from his girlfriends, only a couple of streets,he is a big guy,I mean big,and looks handy, cop car crawls up alongside him, plod ask can they have a word with him,he took it as a request and said no then carried on walking,no reason to lie to me thats what happened no back-chat or cheek or anything, next thing he knows they are battering him, attacked him with their asps, got him grounded and cuffed him,en-route to the cop-shop he told them let me go and I will forget about this,he went to court and was found guilty of resisting arrest???Strange laws in this land of ours, police are caught out on weekly basis somewhere around the country doing this, that,or the other,CCTV works both ways.
