cymruguy69 5
Does anyone Fast their dogs?? My pup is only 7 months so I wouldnt fast her till she is fully grown but I am intrigued Spelling into wether people who feed on a BARF diet do this. Iv'e read that fasting a dog is really healthy for them to detox all the crap from their body! Happy Hunting Math Quote Link to post

Guest MOLLY
There are some books by a vet called Buster Lloyd Jones ('The animals came into my life' is one of them) He was a vet during the 2ndWW. He invented alot of herbs etc used today after studying what his dogs ate naturally on his land, he strongly advocates fasting with water only one day per week for humans also....as of yet ive been unable to do it I loved his books, they either have you lol or crying. Chaz 6
I don`t fast the dogs on a regular basis but if they are not mad keen for their dinner one day then I will skip next days meal and just give them a "RMB" instead it keeps them occupied but doesn`t fill them up and then the next day they are usually mad for the grub again, Interestingly the sapling I have at the minute fasts herself I have been trying to put a couple lbs on her now the season is coming to a close as I think she will carry a bit extra weight when she matures a bit , but If I add more carbs and a larger ration she will eat it fine for 6/7 days and then just pick at it for a day and then next day eats the lot again ? cymruguy69 5
I will notice that with my pup she might just pick at her food one day but then for the next 6 days she loves her food and doesn't leave a bit. Strange isn't it. Quote Link to post

whin 463
never fasted a dog and if there kenneled and worked hard all winter they need there food liquids etc , espes when damp cold and windy after maybe five or six weeks into winter nov dec they need there grub to stay healthy and to keep condition , maybe i would give them less in summer ,as there only chaseing the odd rabbit or a fox cub out of the whins , but in general i feed mines every night and vary there diet with the seasons, more meat in winter less in summer but more mackrel in summer autum , alll the best Quote Link to post
