Guest born to run1083
just went for a stroll just me, my bitch which is a first x collie grey and the lamp, see if I could knock a few off. my bitch last week has had low energy I think the hot weather we had set her back a little I think and is just starting to pick back up, she timed it perfect with the moon lol, well I get in the field see a few. positions my self by the hedge shines out to the middle of the field to find a squatter, send the dog. she takes it sweet off the seat brings it back to a foot of me and pins it down. takes it off her quick shines back out in the field to see one running dog straight down one turn then she lifts it, retrieved this time to hand . again finds two others In quick time that's four in the bag in the space of two minutes, me thinking this gonna ba a good un tonight if this continues. shines back out for another quick scan to see nothing. check next few fields odd rabbit cutting through the hedges but nothing to run, spent another hour checking fields not to get a run, just bare open fields and not a rabbit in sight. totally gutting at the start of the night thought it was gonna be a good un even with shit weather but turned out to be my worste night of the season. local to me there just ain't the ground. in all I'm happy with my dogs catch rate 100% 4 out of 4 obviously as the night went on I was expecting it to reduce but at least she caught them on very hard ground which is a bonus but was hoping for a few more in the bag by the way it started. has this happened to anyone else tonight Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
You come with something, round here a squatter in the middle of the field is alien. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
was out friday night, 1 rabbit from 2 runs, combination of clear sky`s, full moon and no wind im afraid, the ground here is like iron in the pasture fields, so ive been sticking to the drilled barley fields as the ground is alot looser. On the bright side the weather forecast is for wind and rain later in the week and the moon comletes its cycle on the 26th of this month so hopefully things should get better soon. Quote Link to post

stabba 10,745
I,d be counting yourself lucky to get 4 mate. Some folk dont see that many on a full night regularly. Sometimes its easy to fall into the trap of having it easy ,then when it starts to get harder start pissing and moaning about it. Take what you can and be grateful..atb stabba 1 Quote Link to post

Aye might of just been the weather as it was crap to be honest. when you walk on your own you normally get plenty of runs, was only last week went up on my own and it was rammed. so I ain't got a clue, the main disheartening thing is when it starts how you want it to, the adrenaline gets pumping then there's sod all else out. that's what got to me the most lol Quote Link to post
