rob190364 2,593 Posted September 19, 2011 Report Share Posted September 19, 2011 Without wanted to start that stupid debate again, the fox and cat is similar in that either will kill a ferret easily but both will usually get out of its way if it can because they don't want to risk an injury of any kind. In the wild even a minor injury can be fatal due to infection etc. so they're programmed to only go for prey that wouldn't be able to injury them, unless they have no other options. As has been said though, a vixen protecting young isn't going to bolt for a ferret, and if a fox is proper hungry then it probably would kill a ferret because it might aswell risk injury rather than starve to death!
