Off to a start...

Recommended Posts

Just back from a quick local foray with the lamp & beddy/whippet. . Not much out surprisingly, given the almost ideal conditions but managed to get the dog a few runs and land the first rabbit of the season.

Nice one! :good:

Lack of fitness is a big factor with mine ATM. He'll never be a really good lamping dog anyway. He's chronically lacking in intelligence & lacks balls out, top end speed. Most of the rabbits he catches are as much down to my work on the lamp as him.

Despite all his flaws, he never gives up after a rabbit until he's caught it or it disappears from view. His biggest bag last year was 7, I'll be happy if we beat that this year and get to double figures.

I'd never part with him but when I'm in a better position financially I'll be looking for another, better dog to bring on as well.
