FightTheBan 1,147
Well its alright sitting moaning about it but each and every one of you has bred a litter of pups and sold surplus on is directly responsible. They couldn't do this if they didn't have them in the first place. A bit of practise what you preach wouldn't go amiss. And do away with the dogs for sale section on here it is full of c**ts with tripehounds and only exacerbates the problem. FTB
lurchergrrl 1,441
There's a lot of young lads round me with lurchers. Mostly, tho, it's good to see them out and about with the dogs. Some of them don't come from the best circumstances but they show a great deal of care for their dogs. Others sadly don't care much for their dogs at all, have no interest in learning about animal management and training, respect for the countryside and quarry, or what makes a good dog good. A lot of them do it because they like to kill things which I find deeply disturbing. It's not just young kids tho. I know a woman with an Akita cross who said she wanted to have a litter off her because she fancied a holiday. I walked away from her before I did her damage.
Mooch. 177
Yup I feel that there are lots of folk into the game just now,, that are only there because the "aspect" of the sport they are into is illegal!!,, poach a deer,, tell yer mates about it !!,, the new chav hobby !!.. see it lots up my way,!! You forgot to mention boasting about it on THL. Their actions aren't just detrimental to the dogs but also do damage to the image of hunting with dogs at a time when every case of negative PR is another nail in the coffin of the sport. B.P.R 2,798
When I was at school my mates would go the park at nights drinking and up to no good, I'd be walking the dogs (gsd's) grooming them, nails etc and getting an early night for the dog show the next day or agility event. I'd rather have a bunch of lads into lurchers, running their dogs, caring for them, training them etc than he nothing to do and start drugs, drink, robbery. It's something to keep them out of it. I'm not commenting on the pup side of things just merely on the young lads with dogs. If a youngster can care for his dog, train it and work it then in my eyes he is worthy of a wee by of respect. His mates will be out drinking and on the rob while he will be out with the lamp. Just my two pence worth. Atb

Nobody's saying they shouldn't have lurchers, we are actually glad they do. The complaint is they are being allowed to breed them willy nilly.
