rob190364 2,594
my mastiff wasn't great at being a guard to be honest, he looked the part and had a proper evil stare, biggest problem was he was a proper heavy sleeper, unless you made a shit load of noise he'd just sleep through anything....need a more alert dog to be a decent guard I reckon. Born Hunter 17,960
Whats the crack with these bandogges then? How are they any better than an alsation, rotty or doberman? They sound more like a pig dog than a gaurd dog. Is it not just a recreation of the original bullmastif? Which in todays climate would be more inclined to kill an intruder than aprehend him...... no? Im not knocking them, to have an old school bull mastiff patrolling my yard would be spot on. But are these 'recreations' really any better than the tried and tested breeds mentioned? I wasan't looking for a guard dog but he fell in my lap and i wouldn't be with out him now. He's the real deal doesn't fear anything.

j1985 1,984
A bandog isn't a re creation, It's just a working cross of bull and mastiff out of tested stock used as a Man stopper/guard dog!!
