chimneys building regs

Recommended Posts

Ive got a conservatory on the back of my house with no heating in ,ive been thinking of putting a woodburner made of a gas bottle out there for this winter as we have a lot of scrap wood at work so i could fuel it FREE . But as i live mid terrace i was wondering how i come off for the chimney as it would be only a short one and underneath the bedroom windows of next door although out about 8ft from the wall . dose anyone know the building regulations on this ?

Just playing devils advocate here but if you put a chimney 8ft from MY bedroom window i would kick up one hell of a stink, pardon the pun.

Good luck fella as id love a burner myself but can see this causing a monster headache.

i would agree with main man on this, you only have to look about and there wont be a chimney under the ridge of the house, unless it is void and been capped off

yes most chimneys should be over the ridge, its a grey area the chimney regs, also a hetas reg person only can now install wood burners,if you do it to the regs,i know on a new build its normally brick chimney, with a concrete liner, then a twin walled flue down to burner, with vermiculite around, although there are several different options,ie high performance flue liners(no need for any flue) or if the chinmey is rendered inside sometimes you can just have this, some regs wont a crank in the breast to create draw, its a minefield if you follow the regs.
