shame one thinks

Terrible shame to see him like that, still remember that fight well, was a great fight with a terrible end. Good era for boxing then I thought, benn, watson , eubank used to look forward to those fights.

You would hope there was a more support for a crippled ex fighter wouldn't you.

I still find that Benn - Mcllelland fight hard to watch.....i remember getting caught up in the atmosphere of the fight jumping about like a looney shouting and cheering saying Mcllellend had quit and how our local boy had outgamed the yank...............then i remember getting home and watching a re run of the fight on tv,seeing Mcllellands blinking from the middle rounds and realising your seeing a display of unquestionable gameness and lives being destroyed.

There have been a number of fundraising events for Mclelland only a few years ago there was a show at the Grosvenor House with proceeds going to the family.......it was the type of fight that was great to watch but not so great to be involved in.

I was also shouting at the tv screen that he,d quit , and called him a few names I still feel ashamed of myself .
