19powell90 89
hey lads received my shotgun certificate today so as usual i am eager to get my 12g shotty. my budget is max £500 and i want something that is going to last not sure whether it will be a semi or o/u yet - i know that if its a semi I'm best off getting a beretta or a browning correct? i have had a look on gun trader and seen a few nice guns heres a small list: rizzini e o/u bettinsoli diamond o/u winchester sx2 semi browning gold hunter semi lanber o/u please can anybody tell me if any of these are any good? also i have a large shotgun permission which permits shooting of all game and wildfowl am i best of with 3" chamber rather than a 2'3/4" ??? also ( sorry ) in terms of reliability do you get many problems with o/u's vs semi's?? thanks scott Quote Link to post

markha 99
Get the one that fits the best Lanber good first gun Bettinsoli all good Baikal - tried one and would have bought it but too heavy, didnt fit me, and the stock was made for people with massive hands, hard core agricultural russian gun. Go to your local gun shop and see what they have till you know what your looking at as the 2nd hand ,market can throw up some right shit especially after large shows like the CLA where the dealers palm off crap at unwary buyers then the gun ends up on the usual internet sale sites. Its your hard earned cash, respect how much it cost you to earn it, buy in haste repent at leisure. Try lots of guns for size, learn how to mount a gun properly, theres lots of usefull info on the web about gun fit and mounting style, this will help you learn whether that shiny too good to be true gun really does fit you or if its a munter. If you tell us roughly in what georgraphical area you live in Im sure there will be plenty of memebrs on here who will point you in the direction of a good honest gun shop close to where you live.
