PeakOil 352
Good old Greshams Law it would be worth hunting out pre 1920 (.925) and 1947 (.500)British silver coins as in the good old days before people believed in electronic numbers in computers had any REAL value, proper metal had to be put in some coins, same with pre 1964 silver quarters and old Mexican pesos. Or pre 1994 coppers in the UK are ninety odd percent copper and the copper value is greater than the one or two pence face value. Apparently it is illegal to melt them. PeakOil 352
Is it not pre 1947 crowns that are 50% silver? I thought they debased half crowns by switching to cupro nickel in 1947?

the_stig 6,614
Dont know anything about coins per se, but pre 1972 all American silver coins were made of real silver and they are now worth more as smelting silver than as currency. I've read predictions that silver could soon top 500 dollars an ounce. Edited for spelling how many dollers have you got ? ignore doller prices on gold and silver ... uk ££s ..silver prices will hit a high dec/jan ..
