hunt 30
Any decent man involved with dogs would be able to find a dog the same way as the olden days and If they couldn't thy shouldn't be in the game I heard you gone to earth would struggle to find one with a collar on lol Quote Link to post
liamdelaney 2,587
Remember though a lot of these old men used multiple terriers back in the day ok they dug stuff when it was legal but to be honest were there dogs any better and should they be held in such high regard as great terriermen of old when dogs were dogs I think the dogs of today are a better standard to quote dr old rip and black jack were top class but the black dog is a better tool now we have these new collars I have respect for Anyone of senior age to myself as a person but I think to a lot it is Rose tinted glassed regarding terrierwork of old a lot of it is exactly where it belongs in the past Could you explain why the dogs of today are of a better standard and why the black dog is a better tool now we have these new collars? Is this hearsay or are you speaking from experience? doctor dolittle 1
BERT GRIPTON DID USE THE LOCATOR WHEN THEY CAME OUT AND HE EXPLAINED TO US HOW GOOD THEY WHERE. NO ONE CAN ARGUE WITH THAT, THE LOCATORS ARE A GREAT INVENTION;THEY SAVE TIME, THEY SAVE ALOT OF DIGGING AND TRENCHING SOMETIMES 'BUT ABOVE ALL ELSE THEY HAVE SAVE MANY GOOD TERRIERS. ABOUT 14 YEARS AGO NOW ONE OF MY RUSSELL BITCHES ENTERED A MASSIVE PLACE AND SHE WASN'T WEARING A LOCATOR COLLAR AS SHE WAS JUST OUT EXERCISING, (WHICH IS ALWAYS THE CASE) AND I DIDN'T HAVE ANY TOOLS. A LOCATOR WOULD HAVE BEEN OF NO USE WHATSOEVER IN THIS PARTICULAR PLACE.I HAD BOLTED MANY FOXES FROM THIS PLACE AND IT WAS VIRTUALLY UNDIGGABLE BY HAND. I MANAGED TO GET THE DOG OUT AFTER 11 DAYS, SOMEWHAT ON THE LEANER SIDE BUT FITNESS HAD SEEN HER THROUGH...THIS TURNED OUT TO BE AN ALL OUT RESCUE AND HOW GOOD IT WAS TO GET HER OUT AFTER II DAYS. FTB YOU WOULD BE SUPRIZED HOW LONG A TERRIER CAN SURVIVE, ITS USUALLY THE OWNER THAT GIVES UP FIRST, WE GOT A TERRIER OUT OF ROCK AFTER 7 DAYS, A BIT BALD IN PLACES BUT RIGHT AS RAIN AFTER A FEW HOURS, IME SURE THERES BIN TERRIERS TRAPPED FOR LONGER AND LIVED TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY. SO WHILE ON ABOUT RESCUES HOW MANY YOU TERRIER LADS HAVE HELPED IN A RESCUE AND HOW THE OUTCOME WAS. Quote Link to post
