You're right Irish Lucher, getting a car meant we could pull and shag to our hearts content, my furry passenger seat cover in my MK1 Escort took a hammering, and my furry dice always came in handy to mop up afterwards :laugh::laugh:

 maybe we should have a The Hunting Life members girl friend/wives gallery!:laugh::D:)

I loved my old Mercury S Frank :clapper:, I remember when it was first being tested in Airgun World by a guy called Geoffrey Boxall and then a field test with another guy called Rod Lynton, I fell in love with it as it was spitting out .177 Eley wasps on the test at a average 875fps ! I remember jacking in a BSA Super Meteor, a BSA Standard Mercury and all my savings for this lovelly Mercury S, I then saved up spent out on a Tasco 2.75 x 40 scope and a Galloway silencer and I was happy as larry picking off the local Squirrel and pigeon population .

I looked after this gun like it was wrapped in cotton wool! but as I got older I did a silly thing, I met a girl I liked alot and it was her birthday coming up! I was desperate for the cash so I sold the lot for £30 to the local gunshop to buy her a watch :icon_eek:, a short time later she blew me out . I then moved onto a Airsporter S but couldn't hit em Like I could with the Mercury....

:D Yes, unfortunately, the same sorta thing happened to me, met a girl, who promised me the world ect and amazingly enough, thats exactly how much i sold mine for :icon_eek: £30, at a gun shop in Northampton town, Guilders, i think they were called.:laugh::laugh: Happy days. :drink::clapper:

Frank.

i remember walking and running for miles without a thought, from h/regis in beds to sharpenhoe for a little ferreting. it would bloody kill me now.
70s/80s would'nt have had much time always out digging .or poaching the odd pheasant - maybe the terrier locator would have been a decent topic or if chapmans russell wer any good :haha: yes even way back then.
