bantheban 0
i ve got something up my sleeve for him nothing bad just gunna see weather a electric collar on full boost will sort him out Quote Link to post
Cold Ethyl 63
Theres one problem with the E collar though he will no doubt blame the other dog for hurting him and hit it even harder.it can be fixed will just take time and a lot of patience but be careful or you will get a vets bill.Id just use him single handed ive never had a dog that turned on the other dogs before while dispatching their prey ive seen other dogs with that problem My bull x is a nightmare out in public dont get me wrong he walks like a gem and doesnt show any signs really but he has to be muzzled cos he doesnt do strange dogs bounding up to him.Yet in the field he will work with other males and never do a thing my only worry is if the other dog had a go hed rip it to shreds he doesnt do insults well.Ive seen first hand the damage he can do and thats why i dont take chances now doesnt matter if the other dog stopped mine would still keep going till he kills it so please be careful 1 Quote Link to post

CorkyJohn 808
I went out with a lad that had a bullx that was the same around the holes when a terrier was to ground. He went for a couple of dogs but what was worse was the wanker who owned him kept chuckling whereas I would've tried to sort him out immediately & had that not have worked...... Quote Link to post
6pack 60
Got a bull x that does the same. She came to us with this habit but I have never been able to break her from it. Let me know what you try and if you have any success. Quote Link to post
Wallace1 17
Slip it with an old dog just as keen for what eva itis on the lamp then itll have a big shock when it gets smashed , only dawn fall with bull x's , dont even trust my dog near one of the things Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,793
This is one of the things which can happen when you start a youngster off with an older dog, they learn prey will be taken, can become selfish and sneaky or aggressive. ANY breed of lurcher. And this could then progress to possessiveness of prey with humans also. No need to have multiple dogs working together offlead unless they are part of a bobbery pack imo. As has already been said an E collar will only makes things worse in this situation, use it when the dog is already aggressive and it will make them more so, you would have to find a way of using it just prior to aggression completely setting in, when you see the signs it is thinking about it, but it would be a mine field to get right in a working situation with dozens of problems. The only thing i can think of is to teach the dog that no means no in any situation, so when you say NO (or whatever command you use) the dog stops doing what ever it is doing. I would say though i have seen some well trained Bullies who totally zone out when on prey, are not aware anything else exists, and are unable to hear you untill the light switches back on. But then again the same dogs would not even know/care there was another dog there in the first place! You haven't had the dog very long work on his training and bonding for a while before taking him out again. Quote Link to post

Moll. 1,793
Wallace i am not one for getting in to arguments on here....but Your training methods described here for most breeds of dog would only heighten aggression and make things 100% worse. Bullies are far from brain dead, eager to please and learn, My reason for owning/working them. I could have any breed of lurcher, as i dont need to look 'hard' or need a penis extension, but i keep going back to them purely because they are intelligent, easy to keep, and a pleasure to work. If the only bull x's you have seen are the way you describe..aggressive and brain dead then i would look to the people who own them, not the dogs themselves!
