scalesntails 118
Haven't heard about this case but the guy should have gone to crown court. He was idiot for pleading guilty. I used to keep venomous snakes and they frequently had injuries from the wild or from being transported. There was no way I was ever going to get a vet to treat and I tried. leegreen 2,253
Some people just don't know how to put them selves across, I couldn't see some uneducated RSPCA officer telling me about the care of my dogs, which I must say I regard as the best available when it comes to what I consider miner injuries. Did they have the police with them and a warrant? And if he thought he was in the right why the feck did he plead guilty and if he wasn't sure why didn't he go to the vet? lurchergrrl 1,441
On the flip side, there are plenty of people who do DIY treatments - and would have a hard time tying their shoe laces, never mind suturing and other wound management. It can be dangerous and cause a lot of pain to the animal. Because you have to admit there are plenty of animals out there - livestock, pets, workers - who are very badly treated. Who's to look out for them and help educate the keepers? The aRSePCA are a shower of b*****ds and shouldn't be in any authority ...but there is a definite gap in the order of things to help animals who need it, and the owners who deserve honest help in learning to care for their animals better without feeling reprimanded; and sometimes, there are some who really deserve prosecution for cruelty. The aRSePCA can't be counted on for that, but neither can anyone else.
Simoman 110
My neighbours have an overweight dalmation. Wait, I should correct myself ... an OBESE dalmation. It's so fat it's legs flare out when it walks, which is more a waddle. It's so blubbery you can see the motion of the fat when it moves. Nobody seems to be bothered by that - it's a bloody disgrace. Spot on, cruelty is very subjective

gnasher16 31,602
if the rspca carnt get you on the charge they are after they will get you on something stupid Absolutely right....i knew a fella on similar charges to the one here except it involved fighting dogs, they couldnt do him for that so tried to do him for treating a dog himself, couldnt get that to stick so tried to do him for being in possession of controlled veterinary drugs, couldnt make that stick so ended up doing him on the plain old dangerous dogs act !....I believe the rspca see cases like this as free advertising,if they think it will create enough coverage to make old auntie doris put her hand in her pocket for extra donations they,ll go for it....if not they wont.
