That is definitely a lie....you dont have any friends :feck:

My fav bird here and one you rarely see it the tree creeper, secretive little bird, looks like a mouse scurrying around the trees and walls.

And for the first year ever yellow hammers have been visiting the garden, they are not rare but have never in nearly 6 yrs been in the garden.

Loads of greater woodpeckers, blue tits, great tits, chaffinch, and types of sparrow, tawny owls.

And currently have a swallow on eggs in my hen feed shed, delightful to have but it shoots out everytime i go in, just waiting for the thing to get tangled in my hair :icon_eek::laugh:

A distinct lack of wrens this year, i wonder if the severe weather we had has almost finished them off here

Never see Starlings which is a shame, i love their song, rarely see blackbirds either.

Tried to get some photos of some swallows, feeding, yesterday when I was out, they didn't turn out too well mind....

Ian, i would be very happy with that picture mate, its a good un. concidering how fast the move....

RFYW, you must be the most miserable millionaire with a model wife I've ever known!!! It doesn't matter what the topic is, your right and everyone is wrong and if they don't know they ate wrong, you'

Waited in a nature reserve for this, where someone had told me to look. As we get very few at this part of the world..... nice birds.

And I've spent a lot of time on my permission and in the woods etc., watching them. See them all the time   More info for you, not as common this far north but not rare either. http://www.rspb.o

I think you asked me because you wanted to take the piss, or perhaps you think I'm lying about having it. You see my permission is not the epic, vast tract of land you would consider acceptable or worthy. It's not teaming with all manor of game, as would befit one superior hunter and bird spotter such as yourself. I got it because I've been commissioned to photograph the horses that have livery there and farmer trusts me. It's a quiet little bit of land, close to me, where I take my family - dogs and kids - and sometimes my friends (a few from here have been). I get a bit of fun there, but admittedly not much. What I mostly get is peace and quiet, the way I like it. It's next to some National Trust land, the warden for which is quite happy to let me poke about and do what I like.

I expect since you walk round my area so much more than I actually do (ppffttt), I shall run into you soon enough. I look forward to that.

In the meantime, I'll try to get some nuthatch pictures for you - so I can share the information

We have driven past you several times..... Doesnt matter. You keep walking.. I thought you couldnt get baby sitters to walk your dogs. Glad your situation has changed..

You must be going to an area that no one else knows about. As it was only last night that ispoke at length on the phone to a very dedicated spotter who does 100's of miles a week, aND he asked me if i had seen any tree creepers. I have seen 1 and it was some 20miles or so from my home, in a heavy plantation. He had seen 2, and the club he is in, have put it down to the very harsh winters, almost wiping them out. Your very lucky you have such a good spot. Also they arent usual pack birds or groupies, and usually have there own terities, so to have a good number in a small area is quite unusual... good luck with it anyway....

Next time you drive past me, give a pip and I'll ... wave ... at you  Happy to keep walking, thanks.

More information from tree creepers from the RSPB site, regarding their travel habits. I saw some very early winter, ten minute walk from my house.

Where to see them

Best looked for on the trunks of trees in suitable woodland. In autumn and winter, it often joins flocks of tits and other small birds, so if you come across such a flock in a wood, it is worth listening out for a treecreeper among them.

Should've gone to specsavers (or maybe for a hearing test)

Cheers, however i already knew how to look for one and listen for one. And when i go up scotland i to see quite a few.. You said you see good numbers in a small area, Thats what interested me. Would love to see this..

I dont think i need to look at the rspb to realise they hug tree trunks, with a name like treecreeper...

Are there lesser spotted woodpeckers there as well?

You said tree creepers aren't usually 'pack birds or groupies' but that is, in fact, not the case. I only pointed that out to you to help you spot them in future, since you've not had much luck round here.

Plenty of peckers around this area - as you'll know, since you walk it so much.

But I've not seen any lesser spotted woodpeckers.

RFYW, you must be the most miserable millionaire with a model wife I've ever known!!! It doesn't matter what the topic is, your right and everyone is wrong and if they don't know they ate wrong, you'll soon bore them into submission. Is this you an expert birder now? Will we expect you to be doing guilder tours for bird watchers next? I seriously don't know how you have the time. Weren't you meant to be going back to your tropical apartment within the month? As for you saying that Scotland doesn't have much starlings, do me a favour. That'll get filed with your other infamous quote on the fishing thread when you stated a Scottish loch is 2 miles long  when I corrected you, you then stated well all the ones I fish are!!! Indeed....... Bit of advice, cheer up son, if your gonna pretend you have everything, atleast try and look f*****g happy haw haw haw :boogie::boogie::boogie::victory:

Ps " im back", still no pm dickhead

Miserable, thats funi... i KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT BIRDS MATE. I am learning......Have the time for what. I have just been to the canaries, what it matters to you, only you knows. I said, we didnt see one starling in scotland, and asked the question, is it like this all over, what are forums for?... As for the fishing pal, not even going to go there with you. As you know nothing about it mate.....Just for the record, my favourite loch to take people is lomond, and thats 24 miles long....

As for knowing everything, fishing and hunting is what a participate in. And i am now doing photography,(learning) which you put me down about because you do it as a job. Which is fair play and you must be at least half descent....Just for the record, Remember when you didnt know capicaliar were just around the corner from you. Well it was the same with the nuthatch. I still hold my groundtho, that treecreepers are not flock birds.

Pretend, what do i pretend to have, lol. Thats funny, it really is......... (and i'm not a millionaire, i'm twice over) :tongue2:

Can i ask, what does"still no pm dickhead" mean?

And just for the record, I am going to the beach today.. Saturday day time up to the lake district, and night, on the wreck.. then sunday broughton hall country show. Just so you know, as you asked, where do i find the time, hope this is ok with you... And i'm boring..

I know the area were Jen walks very, very well indeed, and the area were you are Russ and the Nuthatch and tree creeper are common, in fact there have never been so many Nuthatches in recent historical times with most available territories occupied.

Treecreeper's have took a bit of a hammering from to harsh winters and grey squirrels :censored: but still relatively common ( Check out Darcy's squirrel proof nesting covers on relevant section )

Now, the lesser spotted woodpecker IS a rare bird in these parts, furthest north I've seen one is Staffordshire.

Check out the black redstart on Pendle or the Great Grey Shirke at Waddinton, Hobbies at Hurstwood etc for real local rarities

Cheers mate , i will.. How would i find the redstart at pendle tho... The hobbies, are they off the path? I photod a shirke not long ago in the canaries. Are they all nesting in these places?I'll write these down, and get on um, lol.

I have been watching the Hen harrier just a few miles from my home. As well as the short eared owls, and a crossbill...

As for jen, i asked her if i come have a look, she thought i was taking the micky... Its mad how a few miles can change the wildlife dramatically..

Thanks again for the imfo..

p.s, when you say treecreepers are pretty common, in what respect...
