DottyDoo 500
just make sure its not boiling hot when ye are ferreting, they dont like the heat, take a spade as ye could get a few lie ups but get it done, if you dont someone else will Quote Link to post
bunny killer 19
the problem you are going to have is theres still lots of young rabbits about,,the ferrets will catch them easy and then the wait,,now once you have a locator mark on the ferret, you can start digging only to find a 4week old rabbit and the ferret has moved onto the next young un,there could be half a dozen underground,,its best to sit it out for a bit otherwise the field will be full of digs,,you may be lucky enough to have a ferret that will kill the little uns and then clear the bury,,fingers crossed?also because the young rabbits will get through most 2 and quarter inch squares in a purse net,if they bolt they will run to the next hole,,,you need a good dog to stop that happening or a shotgun..i was out ferreting last week and the ground is like rock due to us having no rain saying that my freezer is full up with rabbits for the polecats and lurcher,,so it was worth us going there Quote Link to post
The one 8,592
Get out and try it even if you have to dig every young rabbit you dig out is ferret grub ,as said watch the heat i move them about in a pigeon crate in the car and when there in the travelling box in the field i offer them water all the time ,but its usually cooler being to ground so that dont worry them . If somebody gives you permission to control rabbits do it all year round it can be done Quote Link to post
