A bit of puppy training

Recommended Posts

Thought i'd add a thread to this section for a change.

I was invited to a mates new permission that hes been asked to clear. As its summer, he's out there everyday with the airgun but we'll hit it properly with the ferrets over next season. He's hit it quite hard but the number of rabbits still there is enormous, i think he'll have his work cut out keeping on top of it! It suited me as we've just found out Willow is gluten intolerant and raw rabbit is an important part of her new, extremely expensive, diet  I stocked up over the winter for our own needs without knowing this so shes eaten the freezer bare already and started eating her way through Blackstaffs supplies as well.

Im training Willow to the gun at the moment so had her assistance for the evening. Shes not perfect but shes getting there. She stalks, keeps behind me, will lie and stay while i crawl forwards and she retrieves. She does all these things, but as yet, not everytime so we missed a couple due to over excitement and cleared an area after she decided to do a victory lap with the rabbit

We ended up with nine over an hour or so which will help replenish the freezer.

Cheers lads, shes a very full on puppy. Either really good or really, really naughty - shes had me tearing my hair out i have to admit! Looking forward to the season though, plenty of work should take the edge off her i hope.

she should settle down tho shouldnt she?

I hope so, i think most of it is just excitement. She thinks everything is great so its easy to get distracted from what shes supposed to be doing. The actual training is very easy, the hard bit is keeping her focused while putting it into practice!
