Bosun11 537
I've dug to two (unrelated, on different occasions) and to be honest...... let's just say I'd never own one!!! Yep, both had good noses and found well enough (though no better than other breeds) but as was said before, first sign of a bit 'o rough an they were out of there...sharpish!!! Almost felt sorry for the lads who bought an owned 'em, but then again........ Quote Link to post
bullx 12
i knew this guy who bought one of these plummer terrier in the UK,paid 250 sterling for it,bolted the odd fox,was more on top than below, but as the saying goes,A FOOL WITH HIS MONEY IS EASILY PARTED Quote Link to post
m.r1 7
I have a mate who has had a 7 hour dig to his plummer, and had killed its quary. I think they're exellent all round dogs. If it wasnt for the price tag id get one. I here that plummer x JRT do well too, any have any info on this cross? And any one got any pics? Yes Ive heard they are demons on rabbit!, better muzzling them like a ferret stops them killing to ground! Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
I'm not starting a argument here so if you got nothing useful to say don't say it. Does anyone work there plummer terriers underground? What they like and have you got any pics? To quote Plummer on his 'legendary' Omega bitch, 'to use her for earth work would be like using a Rapier to chop wood', funny that this 'Rapier' was last spotted huddeling in a wet tea chest, exposed to the elements of Cathness! And yes......I have read (and re-read) many a Plummer 'classic'!! Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,102
If the truth was known mate ,we have all read his stories .Taken as just that, stories, they read good but it has to be born in mind they are fiction . Ive seen a very red faced chap at a dig with one of these "direct decendents from so and so "but when asked to use his bitch for the 3rd time that day he slunk away to a bush whereby his phone rang all of a sudden and he was off .Trouble at home or something .Wheres all the pics of these working plummers then? . Guest bitsa lurcher
you wont beat a plummer You wont beat a Plummer.......enough If Plummers were the best digging dogs then there would be more of them...fact.... the only place you won't beat a plummer is the first dog out of an earth with it's quarry hard on it's tail Quote Link to post
Bantam cock 1
Two of my mates have Plumbers. I've dug to one of their dogs , not world beaters but they seem to suit them. Saying this they are not the little type of plumber that you see pics of. I have no pics that were taken while I was out with them tho. Not defending Plumber or his dogs , the last time I spoke to the man we were not on the best of terms. I only have blacks in my kennels as they do what I ask of them, I personally wouldn't have a plumber. Quote Link to post
minion 29
I don't have a terrier but used to have a Plummer from Legion Kennels. I paid £300 for her and bought her for ratting / rabbiting. I don't dig foxes but am very intrested in digging and respect the guys who are out there doing it. £300 is alot of money for a terrier but I don't have a problem paying that if I get what I want. And i got what I wanted, a ratting dog. She was great with kids and a nightmare with other dogs. Not being a digging man myself I was wondering why they wouldn't be any use as digging dogs? I don't know enough to have an opinion on the subject but I certianly like the breed. They look stunning imo but it's each to their own. Quote Link to post
m.r1 7
Have you got another £300? If so I have a brick layer terrier to go woth your Plummer, that way you will be an all rounder! Quote Link to post
gavmac 0
And i'll have a joiner Quote Link to post
