I read your last post with great interest and from this post and previous ones it would that both you and many others feel the same :good:

but there are just a few points that i feel as an oldie i that are relevant

i agree that you have more chance of getting caught now with both D.N.A testing and C.C.T.V if you stab some one in a CCTV area

but when i was brought up you put some one away with your fists or at a push put the head on them all over man on his arse the better man walked away black%20eye.gif

now the norm appears to be come on gang lets use his head like a football kick him/her stamp on his/her head and then we will post it on youtube

or let's attack them disabled and them O.A.Ps that should be good for a laff we wont get hurt and we can film it to show how hard we are

when i was a youth if any one even suspected you had done this you would have had the living crap beaten out of you by your ex mates your parents the local plod

it would not be called happy slapping it would be assault and after your hammering you would be sent to borstal where you would have another hammering black%20eye.gifblack%20eye.gifblack%20eye.gif

we all carried knifes a lot more than to days youth but it would never cross your mind to use it on another person that would be gutless and cowardly

if you made a girl pregnant you were expected to do the right thing and marry the girl and support both her and your child facing up to your responsibility's

i accept this did not always work out but it seemed to do a lot of the time it also made you think a bit more before you dipped your wick

your also right about alcohol abuse within the the home of married couples and abuse some times violent :diablo:

however as now they had the same rights to walk away its feelings for each other that holds a marriage together

another the kids of alcoholics are not born alcohol dependant not like a lot of kids today that are born drug dependant are

as for kids leaving school early without A-B-C or D levels or diplomas in art and design or an ollgy in PS2/Xbox i think you will find they have as much chance

of obtaining a job in Mcdonalds and tesco as the rest of them

and your right life could be worse

but i assure you it has been better

mike :hmm:

With all the excitement in the Bin Laden thread I'll finish by saying some things were better, some weren't, you're entitled to your opinion but in my opinion to say that everything was so much better back then is looking back with rose tinted glasses, but then like I said that's just my opinion.

I'm glad you had your time in the happy old days, but don't you think the oldies have always said the same thing? When you had Mods battling with Rockers, When kids were dressing up as punks and sticking two fingers up at the establishment, when Skinheads were going about throwing up Nazi salutes and so on and so fourth, yesterdays oldies always had something to moan about, sometimes justified a lot of the time not.

It's always been the same.

WE WAS BRUNG UP PROPER !!   "And we never had a whole Mars bar until 1993"!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1940's, 50's, and 60's First, we survived being born to moth

i was a 60`s child and your spot on it was like you described, but now its different i would not like to grow up as a child in todays world, envioronment plays a large factor on how kids behave. child

In my opinion, one of the biggest problems we got is parents not giving a shit what their kids are doing and letting them do what they like. No respect and no thought of consequences.

WE WAS BRUNG UP PROPER !!

"And we never had a whole Mars bar until 1993"!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1940's, 50's, and 60's

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank Sherry while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos...

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, bread and dripping, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking..

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags..

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds , KFC, Subway or Nandos.

Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn't open on a Sunday, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers and Bubble Gum.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter, milk from the cow,and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O..K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of old prams and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. We built tree houses and dens and played in river beds with matchbox cars.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo Wii , X-boxes, no video games at all, no 999 channels on SKY ,

no video/dvd films, or colour TV

no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no

Lawsuits from these accidents.

Only girls had pierced ears!

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns at Easter time....

We were given air guns and catapults for our 10th birthdays,

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet because we didn't need to keep up with the Jones's!

Not everyone made the rugby/football/cricket/netball team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Getting into the team was based on

MERIT

Our teachers used to hit us with canes and gym shoes and throw the blackboard rubber at us if they thought we weren't concentrating .

We can string sentences together and spell and have proper conversations because of a good, solid three R's education.

Our parents would tell us to ask a stranger to help us cross the road.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

Our parents didn't invent stupid names for their kids like 'Kiora' and 'Blade' and 'Ridge' and 'Vanilla'

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL !

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

mike

True bud.Now we all live in pussyvile.I can feel my old man turn in his grave. If i would had said to him 30 years ago we would not be aloud to smoke in puplic places/have a can at your own door on a sunny day/A ban on hare and fox/Cant go to a football game and insult the outher fans.He would have took me to see a doctor. And had me locked away.:D

I was brought up by strict parents, and around when the YTS was booming, and lots of dog shite was white.

Massive change in society now than there was back then. Front doors remained unlocked whilst popping out to the shops, Mary lou would know who was who and what time you changed your underware, Leroy would close your gate for you whilst walking passed your house, Ziggy would leave a basket of fresh vegtables beside your back door, Winston would let you off the 10p for a Berkley single.

Communities looked out for each other, and If there was a small problem it was resolved there and then amicably.

Today, it's hard, and you need more than one pair of eyes to get you through day to day. Dog eat dog world, and it's about to get worse.

Good post thanks for your input :good:

as you can see from this thread we don't all agree with every thing posted but hey that's life

i personally think it all stems from weak laws and lack of enforcement and before i am taken to task by the anti police on her let me explain

by laws i mean all laws be it as simple as don't use text speak on this site or you will be deleted if you break this law/rule there are consequences

to the opposite end of the scale up until 1964 people were still being hanged for murder the law if you kill you will be killed

not get life 25 yrs but out in 12 yrs if you show remorse and be a good boy

or the paedophiles who commit multiple rapes and even though they tell the do gooders that if they are let out they will offend again are then let out given a new

identity and released back into the community to offend again

the drug dealers who make millions from others misery who are let off with a caution time after time

it really is all about respect and rules / laws that are enforced

if you cant enforce them don't make them if you make them enforce them

the problem we have we no longer have the right to make any laws that may effect human rights unless we consult with the :wankerzo4: :wankerzo4: over the water who

now govern us through THE COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS

it affects us all the murders the pedophiles the drug dealers the rapists and the rest of the low life scum are laughing there socks off

and then of course if you want even more protection and total freedom claim to be one of our ethnic minority

then there are no laws that affect you

thats got that of my chest have a nice day

I would say alot of us youngsters have got morals and was brought up decent...enough those brought up decent still turn out to be scum though. From everything i have heard people back in my parents age had it better because was more a sense of community and respect..people these days are far to angry and want everything handed to em. A lack of respect aswell and if they dont respect they should fear but its a joke these days. One good example that springs to mind is some c**t mugged an old woman in my area and has his picture in the local pappers. No one grassed so the media wont hear about it but the c**t was given a nice kick in and bottled over the head...since f****d off to go and live with his cousins lol. Crime ect has always been around and always will be to be honest if it isnt bothering me i couldnt give two shits but people should have morals. I know for a fact I wont be having no kids in london...i hear my little cousins talk and think at your age i didnt know this stuff and was more interested in just playing out..worse we got upto was knock down ginger lol. I used to think it was just old people who say it wasnt like that in my day...well ive just turned 20 and im already saying the same thing.

Brilliant thread keeper, can relate to all of that apart from the mud pies, you girls blouse. A piece of plastic tubing for a pea shooter, bit of stick and a dusbin lid to catch birds, couple of old tins and a bit of string you had stilts and an empty fairy liquid bottle, summer holidays sorted, who needed money lol.

As for problems nowadays I think we all agree it's down to a lack of respect. How to solve it, punish the parents. Force them to take responsibility for their sprogs instead of it being societies problem. I remember hearing a young mum tell her unruly kid, wait till you start school, they'll soon sort you out! No dear, that's your job and when little Johnny does something wrong, you should be fined for it. He breaks something, you pay for it. Then and only then when your lying on your back for all oncomwrs, you might think twice about having that 6th child.

cheers baw glad you enjoyed the thread as much as i did it was good to see other members opinions :good:

and always good to remember that not all of us have the same opinions as was clearly shown in this thread but that's how it should be

it was nice to have input from some of the younger members and hear there opinions and the way of the world as they live it now compared to the

times of my youth i wish them well they certainly will need it in our current climate

and will finish as i did somewhere else in this thread by saying you learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others (history)

you can plan your future but please remember your past ( history )

this is not to say that all us old gits know it all we don't but if you take nothing else from this thread remember to respect others opinions and take from them the

best bits and ignore the rest

thanks to all that entered into the spirit of this discussion :clapper: :clapper: :clapper::good: :good: :good:
