how much to feed??

Recommended Posts

From about three weeks i put a bit of rabbit in the nest box they might no eat it but they will give it a good sucking to get the meat juices ,a young rabbits a good size for this . then i build up to a adult rabbit and by the time there six weeks old mine were eating two full rabbits a day

How many was there in that litter? As we know litters can vary in size, can't see a small litter getting through 2 rabbits a day so I'd imagine that was a fair sized litter?

Not sure, but i think maybe more than one communaly raised litter

I was thinking 2 rabbits a day was a lot for a handfull of kits.

Think there was ten or twelve in that litter ,im a great believer in filling young animals full of good grub etc when there small to get the best start in life

well said THE ONE feed them up ,if they are full most of the time they grow better i think but thats just me i do the same but i feed liver to very young kits (cows liver) and give the jill goats milk but only a egg cup full 2 or 3 times a day i think it helps the jill but that again is just me

i feed mine every other day on dried ferret mix in the summer although my mate gave me a rabbit today, and in the winter i give them roughly half a rabbit a day per ferret (hobs getting the bigger bits) but i like to feed my dogs on the rabbits i catch as well so they soon go down and most of the time fill in the gaps with dried, i even aim for pheasents in my car when time are hard :tongue2:
