Help save Lennox.

Recommended Posts

Sorry mods if this is disagreed with, but am hoping there are many that agree with the plight to stop the Breed Specific legislation, Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Your help is needed.

From the Save Lennox web page.

Lennox is a loveable 5 year old family member. He's an American Bull dog Labrador cross that we have owned since he was a little pup. As responsible dog owners that also foster for numerous Northern Ireland dog shelters we had Lennox as a young pup Micro chipped, Neutered, DNA Registered, Pet Safe Registered, Insured and Licensed every year with the Council without fail. On Wednesday the 19th May 2010 he was taken from our family home by Belfast City Council as they believe he falls under the dangerous dogs act for Northern Ireland. The Council, without seeking any proper professional guidance declared Lennox to be a breed of "Pit Bull Type" and so they wish to kill him simply because he has the appearance of said breed. The Belfast City Council took Lennox from his loving family home using a wrongly addressed warrant and using copyright ADBA (American Dog Breeders Association) breed standards guide which the Council were never authorised to use, in doing so the Council broke international copyright laws and for doing so have recently been issued with a 'Cease & Desist' order from ADBA Inc. Lennox has never attacked anyone or anything yet the Council have removed him from his home where he lives with my Husband, myself, our 11 year old disabled Daughter, his kennel mate Juicy a 2 year old female boxer and various foster dogs.

I highlight the section - Lennox has never attacked anyone or anything!

As the Pit Bull Terrier is not a recognised breed, Lennox has been seized, taken from him family for simply looking a certain way.

He has been in the custody of Belfast council now for 314 days, away from everything and everyone he knows.

Strangely, his brother, from the same litter, was not regarded type and not seized.

It's crazy!

Today in a Belfast court, Judge Nixon ruled that Lennox will be PTS.

I am appealing to you all to offer your support.

Please just take a minute to look at his sites and show your support against a stupid law and hopefully save a life.

I know this is a long post, and has nothing to do with hunting and I thank you for your time.

Please do not think this does not effect you, that your dog is safe. Lennox' story proves that any of our dogs could be next.

Please help save Lennox.

100's of pitbull types are taken every year , lennox isnt the first and wont be the last

You're right chimp, another reason to try to get more supporters.

There will be another one already taking his place and that's not on.

your a bit slow off the boat to start going on a crusade now , the dangerous dog act wont ever get over turned.

someone once told me the dangerous dog act come close to be getting thrown out of court as a very clever chap in the pitbull field got involved but during the hearing he was killed in a hit & run.

It's not a new crusade, many have been fighting for a long time to get things changed, and will continue to do so.

We are not trying to over turn the Dangerous Dogs Act, just Section 1 that judges a dog by its appearance and not it's actions.

So ..... your point is? Every one of them counts.

Section 1 is a farce - as is most of the act. I knew plenty of other types of dogs - collies, labs, boxers, terriers - that are far more dangerous than a lot of the 'types' who fall victim to this act, mostly because of the aforementioned section. Judging a book by it's cover is ridiculous. The more people who give their support, the better. Plenty of bull crosses on here that look dubious and could very easily be taken. If it were one of yours, would you shrug it off because hundreds are taken every year?

Once again, a lovely breed gets a bad rep thanks to arseholes who require a penis extension on a lead, and people not bothering to learn about keeping their animals properly.

a lovely breed ? its a crossbreed which by the pic looks very bully , at the time of the act (im not sure now) you couldnt dna test a dog to prove breeding hence why if the dog looks like a banned breed it falls in that bracket.

yes your correct that bullcross's could fall into the act aswell but so could lab x grey , dont get me wrong i think the act is a complete arse but can you really see them changing it?

how many petitions on facebook or whatever have had bans overturned?

face it , the dog has had its death warrant signed and nothing you or me will do to change it. take a trip to south mimms kennels and sneak round the back and you will see the death row kennels with lots and lots of non bully dogs aswell waiting for the slab.

I hope not everyone takes such a 'shrug the shoulders' attitude.

There are links on both sites provided on how they are asking people to help.

DNA can only prove parentage. There is no doubt that Lennox is the cross the owners are claiming him to be. American Bull x Labrador.

But that doesn't matter.

He ticks enough boxes to look the 'type'.

The dog in question is a bull cross, same as so many of the dogs on here. How long before they adapt the DDA to include them? Not long, unless folks pipe up.

Say nothing, do nothing, and nothing will change.

... that avatar of your is hypnotic btw ...

Many bull lurchers have been seized under this stupid law.

Another example of how idiotic it is to judge a breed by its appearance and not its action.

And we fight for them just as strongly.
