andyfr1968 772
Hey, lads. Just a quick one..... After an enjoyable shoot with Simon and Si this afternoon, the plan was to go and do a bit of lamping. Guns and shooter's all set up and going well We were aproaching the end of a field and were about to split up and set ambush. Right then, I'd better cock my gun.... Lever came out, started to take up the spring.... CRACK!!!! the feckin' cocking arm snapped clean in half where the pin goes through Just one of those things, I guess. God knows how many tens of thousands of times it must've been used though, nothing lasts forever...... Hey ho.... Shit happens Cheers..... Edited March 25, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Hi Andy old sport. Just finished the account of the day's activities here for everyone to read. Big sympathy mention of it mate but, as I said before, thank Christ it wasn't one of those moments where serious facial injuries result from a snapping-back barrel or fingers getting chopped off! Small comfort for a pain-in-the-arse thing to happen though Andy. And not a friggin rabbit in sight for you and Si to finish on what otherwise was a bloody fantastic day's set-to with long range targets. Heyho never mind mate. When the barley starts coming up then you'll see a difference! See you Sunday! ATB Simon Edited March 25, 2011 by pianoman Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Hi, Simon. It was still a great day out in spite the 52's faux pas..... and as you say, it could've been worse. It's only a broken lever and an easy fix. At least I've got my 90 to use, so no real hardship but I do really like that old Diana... See ya Sunday, mate!! Cheers. Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
gutted for you andy mate, but at least you've got the '90 til you can fix it pal... all the very best, wurz Thanks, Wurz. I really can't grumble too much, it's had a hell of a lot of use and it looks like it's spent most of it's life kicking around on the floor of a Landy. More bumps, knocks and scrapes than you can count but it does (did...) shoot very well indeed. It's a very easy repair though so it could be worse. Cheers Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 793
hi andy, the signs of a well loved workhorse then mate!! my '95 is going the same way already, amazing what damage gorse bushes, brambles, and general use will give a rifle-like scars on a prize fighter, even when you try to keep it well maintained upon returning home... i find trying to keep a rifle in mint condition is like trying to ice skate up a hill, just a losing battle really- or maybe i'm just a slacker... cheers mate, wurz Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
You're right there, Wurz!! I view my guns as tools and a tool gets used so it's inevitable that they'll pick up the odd knock but my 52 looks more like it's been in a cement mixer!! Whoever had it before me didn't look after it very well at all. I've got the old thing shooting very well but the cosmetics are a bit, erm..... rough but I've always been of a mind that whatever I'm shooting at won't really be too bothered about how pretty my gun is Quote Link to post
