pianoman 3,587
In that case you need a lamp with colour filters and a good, low-light efficient scope. Around 3-9x50 spec. Bushnell Banner is a beauty for not a lot of cash. Quote Link to post
whippetboy 2
hi mate cant u get anything to put on scope with out having to use a lamp mate Quote Link to post
markha 99
Pianoman is right, for lamping any old £10 lamp from the petrol station will do, million candle power and a mate to hold it for you Or for hands free something like a high powered torch that clips to your scope, personally Im a convert to LED type lights, they are so much more brighter than a traditional bulb, and the batteries last longer too. Im using a LED Lenser P7 gunmount kit, have been using it for a while now without filters and no problems, its more than enough for air rifle ranges when lamping. There are some very good ones pretty cheap on ebay, I know a lot of guys that use the CREE torches, and they are dirt cheap, straight from China. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I have a 120 Lumens torch from Tesco that takes 2xAA batteries, is dimmable to 10%, fits in a torch holder that clamps to the scope, the beam is focusable as well! The torch was £25 from Tesco online, collected from a store, the torch holder was £10 from Michael Tawn and it works. Coloured filers, Quality Street! Rubber band round the torch and it works, cheap as chips and if you decide that night time lamping is not for you at least you get a decent torch out of it as well. The field of illumination is great! Focused down you get about a 3 foot spread at 35 yards, if you pull it back to flood the spread is not as far in depth but opens up to about 20 feet at 20 yards! Great little torch, battery life is about 7 hours at full light output! Put up a post about it somewhere! Edited to add mine is a Cree LED torch, Active Pro... Here is my post! matt_hooks 188
And yes, you can do it without a lamp, but you're looking at spending several hundred quid as a starting price. Quote Link to post
whippetboy 2
and which ones do u all think are the best and the best value wb Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
YES!!! "CARROTS" regards davy Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Carrots are no good, Davy. I've tried them and each time I tried to clamp them up they broke, I fear the build quality isn't up to much Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
If you're after a decent reasonably cheap lamp, WB, have you considered a head torch?? I use a Led Lenser H7 and I really rate it, about £40 from ebay. Cheers. Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
On full beam on minimum spread an easy 100 or so yards for spotting, then I turn down the beam strength and it's ideal for airgun ranges It's very light and comfy to wear and the batteries last very well too. I'm probably the only bloke on here who still uses a head torch though!! Edited March 17, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
