scalesntails 118
Is the dog chewing itself from boredom or stress? If not could be another skin condition or it could even have just become habit if the previous owner left it infested with fleas.
skycat 6,174
How do you know that diet is not a factor?
lilpip1234 62
How do you know that diet is not a factor? because he's on the grub he was on when he was in really good condition weight and everything else is fine mate. Scalesntails dogs fine in himself always relaxed around the kennels and is out twice daily, dog was sleeping on plain plyboard according to the lad who fetched him for me but thought if that was the problem it'd atleast improved by now

I presume from that you knew the dog for a while before you got him? Diet related problems don't always show themselves immediately, it can take a while before the body gets sick of poor nutrition or allergic reaction I have a terrier bitch here, was fine for years then about a year after i moved here suddenly developed bald patches, always scratching. Turns out she is allergic to harvest mite, it did not show itself till i moved onto a farm where of course she is constantly in barns.

Gaz_1989 9,539
Second whats said above. Sounds like it could be diet related. I had an EBT that developed something similar at 3 years of age. We ruled out allergy as he had been fed the same since a pup. Turned out he was allergic to wheat and gluten. Which was in the food he had been having for 3 years. Moll. 1,793
Ask your vet to prescribe Hibiscrub I'm sure you can buy Hibiscrub without a vets. It is only a germ killing disinfectant wash.

skycat 6,174
If the dog is on washable bedding it could be the detergent/powder/fabric softener (if used) Most of my dogs are allergic to fabric softeners or highly scented washing powders: horrible stuff anyway LOL Could also be dust mite allergy: dust mites can be everywhere in a home or kennel. Try Diatomaceous Earth: fine powder non allergenic made from crushed sea creature shells: gets into the mites' scales and kills them through dehydration. Brilliant stuff: can put on bedding, in kennel even on dog itself as it doesn't harm mammal skin.

Do you know if EBT have a habit off food allergies as he's english bull grey Seems to be a lot of info regarding EBT's and allergies ALLERGIES Some Bull Terrier owners battle allergies of some kind on a seasonal basis and the source of various ailments owners say occasionally stem from food. In the survey, twenty six percent of respondents said “Yes,†that they had good reason to believe their dogs were allergic to some food ingredients, but there was little or no consensus on the root causes. Fifteen percent of respondents said they didn’t know if they were battling allergic reactions to food, but suspect they are dealing with some sort of food-ingredient allergy. Ten respondents said they were not aware of any type of allergy in their dogs. The survey unfortunately provided very little information on this troubling issue for some owners. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=english+bull+terrier+allergies&meta=
