Guest Lurchers2006
What age would you expect a dog to be doing the business on foxes? I know every dog is different but roughly what age would you expect them to be doing the single handed on the lamp? Quote Link to post

Some of them never take to foxes. Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
Depends on the breed of dog, but as a general rule, around 18 months onwards. Frank. Quote Link to post

lucky 578
i would expect a dog to be dispatching foxes single handed regulary before the age of 2, i know some dogs take longer to click than others but there not my cup of tea. i know of a strain that were killing foxes (pre ban) single handed at around ten month old but imo its only right to try them when your 100% sure there ready Quote Link to post
Ray Mears 272
my whippet x grey has killed one when she was 12 months but it was only a cub i would leave it until you think the dog is ready :thumbs-up: Quote Link to post
LDR 29
All seems sensible advice, i had a dog that entered himself, pre ban of course, and when he had his chance he was 3 years old, done absolutely fine!!!! my mates dog was entered the same night to fox, but his was just under 18 months old and she took the same punishment and did the exact same job too, different breeding but entered no sweat, in fact truth be known, his bitch was far more aggressive than my boy!!! Guest MOLLY
Do you think bitches or dogs as a % are the best? MOLL. Quote Link to post
Meerihunter 7
IMO dogs have always been better on fox, more natural aggression in a dog than bitch. plus most dogs are more strongly built. Quote Link to post
Toni_Dave_17 0
i know of a bull/grey first/cross that accidently came across one at 11months old and thougt it was her new chew toy lol Quote Link to post
