Casso 1,264
hi all just wonrdering how do you keep your lurchers fit?and how long do you excerise them for a day?thanks for all repleys, cheers lee work is the best for any dog, but if not, i use 10/15 mins playing fetch with the mutt, great bonding experience, and good all round cardio workout, fast explosive sprinting and retrieving, perfect for lamping , which is my main work for my mutt,,
Springer87 7
When I'm not working my dogs I take them out every day for an hours walk and play a lot of fetch with a tennis ball or small dummy (so my arms don't get too tired.) That way you keep them plenty active enough and able to sprint when you are working them and gives them the stamina to go for the night when they have the walking in between rabbits to regain their breath. Gaz_1989 9,539
I love mooching. Just long walks. 1 hour, 2 hours longer sometime. When he is fully grown I'm sure we will be out for 4 hours no trouble. The pup spends half of this time running around like a maniac so does alot more mileage than me. I don't get chance to do this more than a couple of times a week though so its a game of fetch across the fields most days. Followed my a mile or so road walking. Bosun11 537
At this time of year... Run the arse off it! Work is paramount and dogs at this time should be seriously match fit.
