gnasher16 31,602
hope west ham get it just have to hope we get them in the cup to see it only joking gnasher hope you say up it would be a really good move for you but how do you think the fans will feel about the move it would be a big wrench to leave Upton park You said it yourself mate.......a state of the art ground to match the best stadiums in world football.....played in by a championship side !!....ok we wouldnt be in the ground for a few years but if we go down this year i dont think its going to be plain sailing getting back up.......especially if money is going to go on this gaff instead of on the team. We.re not a big enough club for a ground like that....we will fill a 60,000 ground against the big 5 but the every day games against the smaller clubs like Everton it will be half empty.....then with a soppy running track as well its just going to kill the atmposphere...we,ve always relied on atmosphere at our ground as you probably know yourself, plenty of visiting left backs have had nightmares running down past the chicken run its an intimidating place for teams to come that we have always used to our benefit.....all that will be gone in a half empty ground where fans are 40 yards from the pitch. Personally i dont think West Ham or Spurs should get it....as a nation we wanted an athletics stadium for the Olympics.....so keep it as an athletics stadium......this whole thing puts me in mind of the " a dog is for life not just for xmas " saying.......we jumped at the chance of the Olympics withour really thinking whats going to happen with the stadiums after the Olympics has finished......as West Ham fans we dont want it,i dont know 1 genuine Hammer who wants to go there....it will be the downfall of this club, mark my words Edited February 10, 2011 by gnasher16
lanesra 4,007
Football was/is a working mans game , the way it has MOVED FORWARD the last few yrs for me isnt all benificial , west ham are known as a "family" type run club , famous for the upton park atmosphere/intimidation (best possible way), to move to a stadium with runnin track ect will take somethin away .... i dont mind change but its not always for the better ! Malt 379
Looks like the move is now off... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15251893
paulus 26
i think the deal for west ham to buy it, is off the table, but think they will be renting it now, so it stays under public ownership

gnasher16 31,602
Best news ive had in months !...I dont know any West Ham fan who was remotely enthusiastic about moving there......Id rather rebuild the East Stand that would up the attendance by 12-15,000......a 42,000 capacity is plenty big enough for us and we could keep all the history of Upton Park. Let the Yids have it or if nutty Barry Hearns that keen for us not to have it lets see him put his money where his mouth is and fill it with 4,000 Orient fans ! Like many other great projects in this country we didnt think it through.....who wants an Olympic legacy anyway........pull the f****r down after and build a proper football stadium for poor ol Millwall. martin 332
I have a lot of time for the Hammers, but, lets face facts, what sort of gates are they getting on a regular basis? I would of thought that it would be a bit embarrassing to have the TV cameras flick around the ground to show 50% empty seats.....JMHO M
