mattydski 560
Me...... is the simple answer. I was out ferreting on Saturday, just a mix of nets, long nets and bolted straight to the dog. Now my lurcher is very focussed on rabbitting, to the point of obsessive. Anyhow, we were on new land, and there was a bit of barb wire about and I made the decision not to run her, which went down like a lead ballon. We moved off from the Barbed wire area, to a clear area, and I removed the leash, giving her a free roam. As you would expect, we got the bolt, (A missed hole) and the dog gave chase, which is her job.....afterall. I herd a yelp and she came back empty handed from the cover...not a sound, and carried on with her work. It was later, that I discovered a nasty tear in her inner thigh, which looked quite nasty. BUt still she carried on.... When we got home, I bathed it, decided to leave it open, as it was drying up, and left it at that. It was getting stiff now, as you would expect. Last night I was due out fox shooting...I went through the rigamaroll of getting ready....dog was going nuts..........got boots on............dog was going nuts..... So we made a deal she could sit in the back of Landrover, and if required, could work off a long line, if tracking services were required. When lamping from the truck...the dog sits in the middle of us, following the lamp with every move... Half way in to the patrol, we stopped to take a close range shot on a rabbit, which my buddy missed........ :headshot:: So disgusted was my lurcher she jumped out the landrover window........over a five foot stock fence....ran down said missed bunny, and then proceeded to taunt my shooting buddy, with the rabbit.........under his nose......... And thats why I'd have dogs.......... :db: Of course, she's stiff again this morning, but at least the cut didnt open up....... Will she be out tonight with me ??.........probably....and every other night this week if she has the chance... And until the pup is ready.........(at least another 6 months) she probably come on every trip... (its not the same without her) (we shot one fox by the way, a large dog..... Longer than the rifle) 1 Quote Link to post
