old dogs and old pics lets see them!

Recommended Posts

Hello boys and girls,

Just thought I would start a thread for those people out there that have had running dogs for years, you can show off your dogs that maybe gone but not forgotten  . Doesn’t matter if your dogs were used for rabbits or roe lets see them. But please state all pre ban pics are what you say they are! :o

I am interested if old dogs look much different to "modern" day lurchers etc i would love to see any pics of people / grand parents working their dogs pre world war 2

Happy Hunting

no idea mate, i got him from the kennels when he was around 6 months old. i always hoped he was a lurcher but the older he got the more he looked like a full gray. he also dident have a huge amount of stamina 5 or 6 decent runs and he used to start walking onto sitters, he also used to run around the out side of the beam on the lamp.

i remember my grandad took him to spennymoor greyhound track for a few runs as he was really fit in his day as i was out 24/7 with him. first run went fantastic ran really well and he beat the couple of other dogs he was on with (all newbies), second run he jumped over the barrier and waited for the dummy to come to him! lol he had to amnny brains for his own good. made him quite a boring worker sometimes. that was his last at the track as he would never run round the track again.

just to add, i never had a "working dog" again after him lol ive had a few pets since.

new dog is a wheaton/gray x beddy/gray and so far so good, alittle head strong if he see`s something but apart from that coming on well.
