Marksman 934
Hi folks.... Some of you may know that DavyT63 has decided to dirve the journey from down south to visit myself and wor kid up here in Newcastle We ventured out to a couple of our permissions last night but condition were less than favourable....supposedly 9mph Westerlys turned out to be 39mph!!(thanks Met Office!!) Anyway we started by a quick ratting session in the stables where I hit 3, one killed outright and the other 2 gave it legs down the nearest hole. I escorted Davy round the paddocks to make sure he didnt stray to somewhere he shouldnt what with it being an unfamiliar territory. There were a few about but what with the snow slowly melting it made the going difficult with either a crunch of the ice or the squelch of the mud. Davy managed to get a couple of shots off but missed due to the winds which were steadily increasing, I managed to hit a rabbit but it managed to kick itself down through the fence and we couldnt find it. After another bout in the stables with nothing to show we decided a move to the next permission was in order. It would have been a short 15min journey but due to an overturned lorry on the A1 it turned into a 35min trip! A quick cuppa and we set off again myself escorting Davy round the paddocks. There were a good number spotted but seemed to leg it before we even got withing 50m, Both myself and Davy were thinking the same....could they see the IR???? :hmm: THe winds were getting bad now, with gusts I would approximate at about 35-40mph.....Not good in the airgun world Davy spotted a target at about 45m and decided to try a stalk, as he did that I left him to it and hopped into the next paddock where I spotted my intentional target, a lone rabbit 35m downwind. I made the slow stalk to within 25m, knelt down and poised myself...... Not having the mildots on the NV made the job a little harder so I had to guess where to aim to allow for the windage and I squeezed the trigger to watch the rabbit keel over and give the one footed salute....it was a perfect brain shot, I couldnt believe it! Both Davy and wor kid returned empty handed but hopefully tonight will change all that! The pics are on Davys camera as my batteries went flat on mine and I'm sure he'll post them when he gets net access Roll on tonight!! Darryl Quote Link to post
