Hi lads,

This clip is me showing you and demonstrating my new DCR-SR32 Sony Handy Cam night vision setup.

As you will see from the footage the Deben Tracer Max Pro rifle mounted lamp and infra red home made filter work very well with the camera.

I’m expecting some very good results with this setup over the Winter months when I use it for some Newbottle ratting and rabbits from a static location and any other shooting that comes my way.

What this clip also shows is the quality of the Hawke Sports HD 4-12x50 AO IR scope that some have been talking about in other threads lately.

If I could have properly seen where my parallax setting was on the scope, as it was pitch dark and I couldn’t, the picture would have been even better than it already was.

It’s just a really impressive scope for £80 and anyone wanting a good scope to do both close and max distance sub 12 ft/lb shooting should seriously have a look at this scope.

The next time that you see this setup on here there will be hopefully some vermin eyes shining like little stars ready to be Vermin Sniped.

Thats some good footage there mate, how thick is the ir filter mate? ive been looking at a dipol L3 laser to add to my Nv gear but that Tracer looks the job.

i was very surprised when i saw the specs for the camera, most perform better with a 14 bit DXP and a larger image device. thanks for throwing this into the mix Si might save me a few bob.

Nice one cheers Si, when i started looking into this sony NV i was also looking into putting it on a 22lr or 17HMR so i was looking for ranges of 150+ yards, but as someone ruined my plans for FAC for the next 5 years im think im going to change direction and go for this kind of set up. never seen the results from a tracer with ir filter, cracking what detection range you think you'll get with that? if that pic was 47 meters i guess you could get a good 80m+ detection no bother.

thats always the case its always better through the viewer than when posted on a forum or utube. time to hunt for a tracer.

Cheers mate.

Dom.

PS when you home on leave buddy?

Hi Dom,

The detection range will be like you say mate on a rabbit 80m easily with no problems at all to maybe 100 to 110 metres max i reckon side ways on or front facing with 2 stari eyes lighting up the view finder, and on a rat id say 60 metres as the roof top at 47 metres was still well lit up and very clear.

Only shoot them between 10 and 20 metres though really so no problems there.

No im on leave in a few weeks time buddy.

The Tracer Max Pro with the dimmer switch is real good and works well on rabbits with the red filter too.

Ive had mine years and shot hundreds of bunnies with it.

Thanks Davy pal, that would be nice.

I've turned off the steady shot now mate as you said.

What difference does it make buddy doing it?

Si

hi si

it will keep ya pic/cross hairs very still

if ya have notice when closing in on a target, they tend to wave about a bit.

turning image stabilizer off will stop this

to the trained eye you will notice this

Very nice work Si :notworthy:

I'm hoping to borrow Lesley's Sony DV camera but its heavy

Must check the batteries are sorted before you get up here.

Is that rain or snow I see through the scope? Its snowing round here again (I love it but it's getting in the way of my shooting!)

Thanks Davy.

Yes I have seen that too myself and wandered why it looked like my cross hairs where moving right and left.

Should be fine now then.

Cheers buddy, great tip.

Hi Tony,

Shooting ftom a scope camera is best done off a bipod buddy.

I've tried it standing and it'd megga hard.

As it's off the bipod and I set up the cam etc at my shooting loc or very close to it, the weight and change in the rifle doesn't really effect anything.

Wouldn't like to have to carry it all night though without a break or a sling.
