JoeD 24
Just a general question, what sort of stuff do you mainly buy online as I am wanting to open up an internet store and need to do a bit of research on what sells. Thanks for any comments left. JoeD

chimp 299
anything and eveything off the dreaded ebay , do your research on ebay to see what is selling and compair prices with the states. what sort of market did you want to get into? i done motorbike parts for a couple of years and made a killing but you have to cream it while you can as i found out, other people will undercut you and you dangerous inferior products just to get a sale , in the end i pulled out as people who had bike accidents approached me thinking i had sold them the parts and once they realised they would always feel pretty silly. women spend stupid amounts on the internet and that would be the way forward if you could get the missus to help you with what would sell. i still have a few contacts in china and thailand who i used to deal with for importing stuff but to tell you the truth with the pound as it is your better off sourcing local. use redirectable numbers if your going to accept calls from customers as these can be a money spinner ( company like opal can help) paypal is a godsend but there fee's are silly (ebay own paypal) so they are taking money at every point so even if you are not using ebay to sell take this into account. its been a couple of years but if i can help feel free to pm as im getting back into doing a bit myself. atb atb Edited November 26, 2010 by chimp

jackinbox99 41
As chimp said, its very hard to sell anything online these days as there just is far too much competition. Ive just closed my 3rd store down (different product each time) due to people jumping on the same band wagen and undercutting me. I dropped my profit margin down so much I just barely covering my costs before I closed it down completely. It doesnt matter what you sell, someone else out there will be already doing it. And if you can find a nitch market then it may only last a few months before other people copy you. That said, if you can find something which works, then go for it. You may find an area which you get lucky in!
