PUPS 1ST OUTING

Ive not had terriers for a few years 1 i lost 1 got run over last 1 died of old age.So never done any terrier work for a while.I joined this fourm earlier this year and realised how much i missed the terriers.I got a black bicth pup of penno off here she will be 9 months next week. Anyway yesterday i went and had a walk along a river just to have a look where i use to go ratting in the 1st 20ft the bitchs nose was in a rat hole digging 4 rats bolted 2 in the water and 2 along the bank she new the had gone and stopped digging. Further on nose in another hole and digging one bolted quick.I walked across to a ditch in the middle of the fields again marking with a few bolts. So today went back abit more prepared with a spade and fising net. I parked up on the edge of a field let the dog out opened the back of the van to get the spade and net. Looked round no dog she was in a nearby ditch digging i bolcked a few bolt hole and let her dig it she dug and killed her 1st rat.Walked over to the river marked again one bolted missed it another 1 bolted i got it in the net and tipped it to the dog rat 2 at the end of the day she had 9 but missed loads bolting in the river and in the rough we need a few more frosts. Well happy with the bitch very keen and looking like got a good nose. Back there again tomorrow i'll keep her on the rats this year and move her on next season.
